Responsibilities

What is the opportunity?
Opportunity to join a fast growing business line within RBC Wealth Management-US, reporting to the Director of Alternative Investment Strategy.

The Alternative Investments Product Consultant will be an integral member of alternative investment product team, responsible for accelerating advisor and client adoption of alternative investment strategies through direct advisor support and interaction, product advice and expertise, and consistent collaboration with our divisional sales consultants and internal alternative investment product team.

What will you do?
• This position will drive growth in platform assets primarily through direct and regular engagement with the alternative investment team, alternative investment divisional consultants, and RBC Financial Advisors.
• Respond to financial advisor requests and work in partnership with the divisional sales consultants to educate advisors on the benefits and risks of alternative investments, and to offer expert advice and information on specific strategies, funds, modeling, and terms relative to potential and current client cases.
• Attend regional and national RBC events in support of divisional alternative investment consultants to share knowledge and updates around RBC's alternative investment consultants.
• Conduct inbound and outbound calls and virtual meetings with Financial Advisors. Maintain CRM (Salesforce) data by tracking daily interactions, meeting notes, and client case follow-ups.
• Attend to the team hotline and shared inbox to ensure advisor requests are responded to in a timely matter as a subject matter expert on alternative investments on RBC's platform. Facilitate routing of advisor inquiries to relevant support functions. Gain expertise on business practices and procedures in order to respond to advisor questions about advisor training, platform tools and modeling, investor eligibility, and sales literature requests.
• Assist in the development of presentations and other marketing materials for use by divisional consultants and other team members in branch and corporate meetings. Develop, publish, and maintain a handbook of current platform offerings, and maintain other materials on intranet as needed.
• Support planning and content creation for RBC events, including Alts Leaders, Next Levels, and other internal conferences.
• Manage the approval process for fund manager diligence/meeting requests and advisor hosted client seminars. Coordinate branch activities with sponsors, including external sponsor events and roadshows. Maintain wholesaler maps for sponsors and connect advisors and divisional consultants to in-market sponsor representatives.
• Attend recruit meetings to speak on the merits and processes for RBC's alternative investment platform. Develop and maintain sales reporting, including tracking of fundraising activities and milestones, sales activities and wins, and sales metrics relative to established divisional targets. Support Salesforce case management in collaboration with divisional sales consultants.
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have
• Minimum 5 years of financial markets experience, with a preference for alternative investments and distribution in wealth management.
• Working knowledge of alternative investment universe across drawdown and evergreen structures (with some combination or exposure to private equity, private credit, real estate, infrastructure and hedge funds), and ability to speak to the key benefits and risks with advisors.
• Proficient with data manipulation and modeling, including Salesforce and ability to adapt to changing technology (including AI tools and agents)
• Strong customer service orientation and interpersonal skills with a desire to share knowledge with a wide variety of team members, and strategic problem-solving skills
• Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
• Ability to work at RBC's US Wealth Management headquarter office in Minneapolis for at least 4 days per week
• Securities industry licenses 7, 63 and 65, or series 66; or willingness to become licensed within 30-60 days of hire.
Nice-to-have

• Experience within private wealth and/or broker-dealer who has an alternative investment platform.

The expected salary range for this particular position is $70,000-$130,000, depending on your experience, skills, and registration status, market conditions and business needs.
