Job Description

The Senior Benefits Specialist supports the administration, compliance, analysis, and continuous improvement of UL Solutions' U.S. benefits programs. This role partners with vendors, employees, Payroll, HRIS, Finance, and Total Rewards to ensure accurate benefits administration, strong operational controls, and a positive employee experience.

Responsibilities

  • The position plays a key role in Open Enrollment, vendor management, compliance activities, audits, reporting, system enhancements, and process improvements. The Senior Benefits Specialist also serves as a subject matter expert and provides guidance to lower-level Benefits Specialists.
  • Administer and support U.S. health, welfare, retirement, and voluntary benefits programs, including eligibility, enrollment, plan provisions, escalated inquiries, appeals, and exception requests.
  • Lead annual Open Enrollment planning, testing, validation, implementation, and employee support.
  • Perform audits, reconciliations, reporting, and data analysis to ensure accuracy of eligibility, enrollment, payroll deductions, vendor invoicing, and data exchanges.
  • Monitor compliance with ERISA, ACA, HIPAA, COBRA, and other federal and state benefits requirements.
  • Manage relationships with vendors, Payroll, HRIS, Finance, and internal stakeholders to resolve benefits-related issues, improve service delivery, and support operational effectiveness.
  • Support benefits benchmarking, market research, survey analysis, and recommendations for program enhancements, policies, plan design changes, and cost-saving opportunities as needed.
  • Support system enhancements, vendor implementations, process improvements and other benefits-related projects.
  • Develop and maintain employee communications, procedures, knowledge articles, and benefits documentation.
  • Provide guidance, training, and support to other Benefits team members.


Qualifications

  • University degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, with generally five plus years of related experience.
  • Strong knowledge of benefits administration, benefits concepts, and benefits program management.
  • Working knowledge of laws and regulations governing benefits programs, including ERISA, ACA, HIPAA, COBRA, and other applicable federal and state requirements.
  • Ability to evaluate benefits programs, analyze market data and survey results, and support recommendations for new or modified plans, programs, policies, and cost-saving opportunities.
  • Experience supporting Open Enrollment, benefits audits, reconciliations, reporting, vendor coordination, and employee inquiries.
  • Working knowledge of Human Resource Information Systems, benefits administration platforms, reporting tools, and data integrity processes.

Total Rewards: We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career. The estimated salary range for this position is $75,000 to $100,000 and is based on multiple factors, including job-related knowledge/skills, experience, geographical location, as well as other factors. This position is eligible for annual bonus compensation with a target payout of 10% of the base salary. This position also provides health benefits such as medical, dental and vision; wellness benefits such as mental and financial health; and retirement savings (401K) commensurate with the standard rewards offered in each individual location or country. We also provide full-time employees with paid time off including vacation (15 days), holiday and personal days (totaling 12 days) and sick time off (72 hours).
