We are seeking a Developer Engineer & Analyst - Purchase Experience to support a strategic value stream focused on simplifying and enhancing how customers explore, apply for, and purchase life insurance.

This role serves as the bridge between business stakeholders, product teams, UX, architecture, and engineering by translating business needs into scalable technical solutions. The individual will participate in technical analysis, solution design, API and integration contract definition, and development activities across modern digital platforms and enterprise systems.

The ideal candidate combines strong analytical and communication skills with hands-on experience in application development, API design, system integration, and solution delivery. This individual is curious, collaborative, comfortable navigating ambiguity, and enjoys solving complex business and technology challenges.

What You'll Do:

Technical Analysis & Solution Design
  • Collaborate with Product Management, UX, Architecture, Engineering, and business stakeholders to define and document technical requirements supporting the end-to-end digital purchase experience.
  • Analyze business processes, customer journeys, and system interactions to identify opportunities for improved efficiency, automation, scalability, and customer experience.
  • Translate business requirements into functional specifications, technical designs, process flows, API contracts, and integration documentation.
  • Analyze and map business and policy data into structured formats (JSON, XML, ACORD standards where applicable) to support integrations across enterprise platforms.
  • Define, document, and maintain integration contracts between digital applications, underwriting platforms, CRM systems, policy administration systems, data services, and third-party partners.
  • Conduct impact assessments for new features, enhancements, and system changes across the Purchase Experience ecosystem.
  • Partner with development teams throughout delivery to clarify requirements, resolve technical questions, and validate implemented solutions.
  • Support integration testing, defect triage, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis during implementation and release activities.
  • Proactively identify gaps, risks, dependencies, and ambiguities, driving resolution through collaboration with cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Leverage AI-enabled tools to improve documentation, analysis, software development, and collaboration efficiency.

Development & Integration Engineering
  • Design, develop, test, and maintain APIs, integrations, and application services using Java, MuleSoft, or related enterprise integration technologies.
  • Develop and support RESTful APIs, event-driven integrations, and service orchestration patterns aligned with enterprise architecture standards.
  • Define interface specifications, payload structures, validation rules, and error-handling patterns to ensure reliable integrations.
  • Collaborate with architects and engineering teams to implement scalable, secure, and maintainable solutions.
  • Participate in code reviews, unit testing, integration testing, and performance optimization activities.
  • Support production implementations, monitoring, troubleshooting, and continuous improvements.
  • Maintain technical documentation, including API specifications, integration contracts, design artifacts, and operational runbooks.
  • Evaluate and recommend improvements in integration patterns, reusable services, governance standards, and development practices.

Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
  • Serve as a trusted liaison between business, product, UX, architecture, and technology teams.
  • Build strong partnerships across internal teams and external vendors to ensure successful delivery of strategic initiatives.
  • Take ownership of assigned initiatives by coordinating across teams, removing blockers, and driving work to completion.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives involving integration architecture, API governance, data quality, DevSecOps practices, and delivery processes.
  • Participate in Agile and SAFe ceremonies, including PI Planning, backlog refinement, sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives.

What You'll Bring:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business Technology, or a related discipline; or equivalent professional experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in software development, technical analysis, system integration, application engineering, or related technology roles.
  • Experience designing and documenting APIs, integration contracts, technical specifications, and solution architectures.
  • Hands-on experience with Java, MuleSoft, Spring Boot, or comparable enterprise development and integration platforms.
  • Experience working with REST APIs, JSON, XML, messaging technologies, and integration patterns.
  • Strong understanding of distributed systems, service-oriented architecture, and enterprise application integration concepts.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience supporting Agile and/or SAFe software delivery methodologies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with both business and technical stakeholders.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and SharePoint.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with MuleSoft Anypoint Platform, Java/Spring Boot, or similar middleware and integration technologies.
  • Experience defining API contracts using OpenAPI/Swagger specifications.
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and DevSecOps practices.
  • Experience with life insurance, financial services, or other highly regulated industries.
  • Familiarity with ACORD standards and insurance data models.
