Job Summary: Seeking a Senior API Engineer to support an enterprise API security remediation and platform modernization initiative. This role focuses on securing REST APIs, modernizing Java applications, implementing authentication and authorization controls, and delivering production-ready changes across four Java application repositories. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with Java modernization, API security, automated testing, and enterprise application development. Key Responsibilities: • Assess existing application repositories and Jira stories and develop and secure REST APIs. • Configure and implement OAuth 2.0, JWT roles, scopes, and claims. • Upgrade applications through the required modernization path, including Gradle 8.x, Spring Boot 3.5.x, Java 21, and Gradle 9.x. • Resolve compatibility issues related to framework, library, and dependency upgrades. • Update OpenAPI 3 specifications and deprecate legacy API endpoints. • Implement application logging and SIEM integration. • Develop and maintain automated unit, integration, and API security tests. • Troubleshoot and resolve defects identified during testing and deployment validation. • Participate in standups and collaborate with security, platform, and engineering teams. • Document implementation evidence and technical changes. • Support production deployments and hypercare activities. • Troubleshoot complex application, dependency, and integration issues. • Maintain high standards for production quality, security, and technical documentation. Required Qualifications: • 5+ years of enterprise API and backend engineering experience. • Advanced experience with Java 17/21, Spring Boot 3.x, and Gradle. • Experience performing major-version upgrades and dependency remediation. • Advanced Spring Security experience with hands-on expertise in OAuth 2.0, JWT scopes, roles, and claims. • Strong experience developing secure REST APIs. • Strong expertise with OpenAPI 3 and Swagger. • Strong experience developing automated unit, integration, and API security tests. • Experience with Git-based source control and CI/CD pipelines. • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills across complex applications, dependencies, and integrations. • Strong communication, collaboration, ownership, documentation, and risk-escalation skills. Preferred Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent practical experience. • Experience with Okta or comparable enterprise Identity Providers, including API configuration across QA and production environments. • Experience with SIEM integration, structured security-event logging, and enterprise logging SDKs. • Experience with Harness, Anypoint/API Gateway, Flyway, and JaCoCo. • Experience coordinating DNS and load-balancer activities. • Experience supporting enterprise production deployments.
