Full Job Description
About the Role

We are seeking an experienced accounting leader to develop and oversee a scalable accounting function within a rapidly growing environment. This position will have ownership of the month-end close, operational accounting activities, and the development of standardized processes across revenue, and operating expenses.

This is a hands-on, player-coach leadership role. The successful candidate will be equally comfortable developing the accounting team and improving processes while remaining directly involved in day-to-day accounting activities when needed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the end-to-end monthly close process, ensuring financial results are accurate, timely, well-supported, and audit-ready.
  • Maintain the accuracy and completeness of revenue and operating expenses.
  • Develop and maintain account reconciliations that connect financial results to underlying operational activity.
  • Identify discrepancies and resolve accounting issues before they impact reporting timelines.
  • Develop, document, and maintain efficient accounts payable workflows, with a focus on achieving at least 99% accuracy and eliminating outstanding processing backlogs.
  • Establish consistent accrual methodologies that accurately reflect business operations.
  • Implement appropriate accounting controls to improve consistency, accuracy, and reliability across reporting periods.
  • Continuously evaluate existing processes and identify opportunities for greater efficiency and scalability.
  • Create repeatable processes that ensure operational data is accurately reflected in accounting and financial reporting.
  • Investigate and resolve data discrepancies between systems.
  • Develop practical solutions for working within a non-integrated systems environment without depending on major system implementations or overhauls.
  • Provide direct leadership and oversight to accounting personnel, including Accounting Manager, AP, and Staff-level team members.
  • Coach and develop team members while strengthening overall accounting capabilities.
  • Remain actively involved in accounting execution and step into detailed work when necessary.
  • Maintain organized, complete, and audit-ready accounting documentation.
  • Serve as a key accounting contact in supporting external audit requests and providing required schedules and documentation.

Qualifications
  • 8-12+ years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Demonstrated success building, improving, or restructuring accounting processes within a growing or rapidly changing organization.
  • Strong operational accounting experience in addition to a solid understanding of U.S. GAAP.
  • Experience operating in environments with multiple non-integrated systems or comparable data and process complexity.
  • Hands-on experience with multi-entity accounting and consolidation.
  • Proven ability to operate as a hands-on accounting leader rather than functioning exclusively in a supervisory capacity.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and process-improvement skills.
  • Previous accounting experience within healthcare, insurance, medical claims, or another liability-based accounting environment is preferred.

Compensation: $150,000 - $175,000/year

Basic Benefits & waiting period:
  1. Competitive Salary + Unlimited PTO.
  2. Health, Dental, Vision, Life & Accidental Insurance
  3. 5% on 403k plan
