Full Job Description
The Opportunity:

We're in the Winning Era of LeagueApps - a phase of focused execution, high expectations, and great work as the standard. In that era, the quality of our financial foundation matters as much as the quality of our product. Every number has to be right. Every close has to land. That's where you come in.

We're hiring a Senior Accountant to serve as the day-to-day backbone of our accounting function. Reporting directly to the Controller, you will own the transactional and reconciliation work that keeps our books accurate, close on schedule, and financial reporting trustworthy.

This is a hands-on role with real ownership. You are not one of ten people on a team where the work is sliced thin. You will touch accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, and the general ledger. You will see the direct line between your work and the decisions leadership makes.

You'll also have the opportunity to help modernize how we work. Identifying where automation belongs, asking whether AI can take a manual process off the table, treating "how we've always done it" as the thing to beat.

If you want a role where precision is the point, where you're trusted to own your work, and where the company you support is genuinely making youth sports better - this is it.

What You'll Own:
  • Full-cycle accounts payable, including vendor onboarding, invoice coding, payment runs, and vendor relationship management
  • Accounts receivable, including invoicing, cash application, collections follow-up, and aging analysis
  • Monthly balance sheet account reconciliations, including cash, prepaids, accruals, and merchant/payment processor accounts
  • Preparation and posting of journal entries in support of the monthly and quarterly close
  • Maintenance of the general ledger and supporting schedules, ensuring entries are accurate, documented, and GAAP-compliant
  • Partnering with the Controller on close timelines, flux analysis, and audit or review requests
  • Identifying and improving manual processes, including opportunities to apply automation and AI tooling to routine accounting workflows
  • Cross-functional partnership with Sales, Customer Success, and Operations to resolve billing and payment questions quickly and accurately

Who You Are:

You care deeply about doing the work well. You hold yourself to a high standard, take ownership without being asked, and make the people around you better just by being present. You don't need a sports background to thrive here - but you'll connect with a culture that values accountability, continuous improvement and a strong mission.
  • 3 to 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally including time in a high-volume transactional environment
  • Strong working understanding of GAAP and the ability to apply it to real transactions
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • The ability to explain an accounting issue clearly to someone outside of finance - communicating cross-functionally is part of the role
  • Hands-on experience across AP, AR, reconciliations, and journal entries
  • Comfortable working independently in a fully remote environment; we have a preference for Eastern Time Zone candidates to support team collaboration, and welcome strong candidates across all backgrounds
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Located: Arkansas, Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Washington DC, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Massachusetts, Maryland, Minnesota, Missouri, North Carolina, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Virginia, Washington

Nice to Have:
  • Experience using AI or automation tools to improve accounting processes, such as invoice capture, coding, reconciliation matching, or close documentation
  • SaaS or subscription-based business experience, including exposure to deferred revenue and payment processor reconciliations
  • Familiarity with NetSuite, Ramp and Stripe Billing
  • CPA preferred; candidates actively pursuing their CPA certification are encouraged to apply

How You'll Show Up:

At LeagueApps, we hire for character as much as credentials. Our SPORTSDOG values are how we hold each other accountable and measure what doing great work together actually looks like:
  • Sportsmanship: You work with fairness, honesty, and integrity - with teammates, partners, and the numbers themselves. Especially the numbers.
  • Passion: You care about everything you do. You're passionate about delivering amazing sports experiences for all. It's who we are and why we do this.
  • Results: You stay locked on outcomes. You track progress honestly, own what you missed, and never confuse being busy with making an impact. The close is either done or it isn't, and you know the difference.
  • Team: You make the people around you better. You raise your hand when something's off, pick up slack when someone is stretched, and genuinely believe that how the team does matters as much as how you do.
  • Student of the Game: You never stop trying to be better. You chase feedback, question your own work, and treat "good enough" as the thing to beat, not the finish line. You're genuinely curious about how automation and AI can make the work better.

We're in a Winning Era - a phase of execution, focus, and growth. If you want to be part of a team where great work is the standard, where you're challenged to be better every cycle, and where the mission actually means something, we'd love to meet you!

Compensation & Benefits:
  • Compensation: $80,000-$100,000
  • Comprehensive Health Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision coverage, HSA
  • 401k
  • Commuter Benefits (if working in the NY office)
  • Home-Office Stipend
  • Sports Leagues subsidies for employees and their children
  • Cell phone and gym subsidies
