Full Job Description
We are seeking a talented Senior Accountant to join our team at JBT Marel's Corporate Headquarters in Chicago, IL.

Reporting to the Accounting Manager you will be a key member of the Corporate Accounting Center of Excellence. This role will oversee balance sheet accounting for an entity within our Diversified Food & Health (DF&H) segment focused on our Wenger Division.

Our Senior Accountant will play a critical role in ensuring accurate, timely, and U.S. GAAP-compliant financial reporting while maintaining strong internal controls and compliance with regulatory requirements.

Your responsibilities

  • Own and execute an accurate and timely month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close process in accordance with U.S. GAAP and JBT Marel accounting policies


  • Prepare and record monthly journal entries, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and appropriate supporting documentation.


  • Perform balance sheet account reconciliations, investigate variances, and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.


  • Analyze financial results and account fluctuations, providing clear explanations and recommendations to management.


  • Ensure the completeness and accuracy of the general ledger and supporting schedules.


  • Perform and document monthly internal controls and support compliance with SOX and other regulatory requirements, as applicable.


  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders and business partners to gather information, resolve accounting issues, and ensure accurate financial reporting.


  • Support internal and external audits by preparing schedules, responding to inquiries, and providing requested documentation.


  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes, enhance controls, and improve the efficiency, quality, and timeliness of financial reporting.


  • Participate in accounting projects, system implementations, and other continuous improvement initiatives as needed.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of public accounting experience or 4+ years of progressive corporate accounting experience, preferably within a SOX-compliant environment required.

    Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

    Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to partner across functions and levels of the organization.


  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, and accounting principles.


  • CPA certification or active pursuit of CPA licensure preferred.


  • Experience working with accounting systems and ERP platforms; Microsoft Dynamics, Blackline, and OneStream experience is a plus.


  • Public accounting experience and/or corporate accounting experience in a SOX-compliant environment.


  • Demonstrated ability to prepare and analyze account reconciliations, journal entries, and financial results.


  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with a high degree of attention to detail.

Must be authorized to work in the US now and in the future to be considered.

This role is located in Chicago, IL.

This is a hybrid role 3 days in office/2 days remote
