Senior level Accountant to fill a
Senior Accountant of Commercial Accounting opening with a scaling company based in Troy, Michigan.
Requirements of the
Senior Accountant, Commercial Accounting- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA or CPA candidates preferred
- 3+ years of relevant accounting experience; public accounting experience a plus
- Deep understanding of ASC 606, with hands-on experience applying principal/agent determinations in a merchandise or e-commerce context
- Experience with inventory accounting, including COGS, reserves, and physical count reconciliation
- Proficiency with ERP systems (SAP preferred) and comfort working with IT on integrations and transaction flow design
- Advanced Excel skills; strong analytical mindset with attention to detail
- Proven ability to build processes from scratch in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
- Automotive, EV, e-commerce, or consumer products experience preferred

Responsibilities of the
Senior Accountant, Commercial Accounting - Prepare and post journal entries for accessories and merchandise sales including revenue recognition under ASC 606 and evaluation of principal vs. agent considerations across sales channels
- Own inventory accounting for accessories and merchandise including cost of goods sold, inventory adjustments, reserves, and monthly reconciliations
- Manage end-to-end accounting for customer returns, including reserve estimation, recording, and reconciliation to operational systems
- Design and verify transaction flows with IT and Digital teams, including API feeds between e-commerce platforms and the ERP, to ensure accounting completeness and accuracy
- Own monthly close activities: journal entries, account reconciliations, inventory roll-forwards, and product line profitability reporting
- Partner with FP&A on budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis for accessories and merchandise revenue and cost of goods sold
- Build and maintain internal controls and scalable processes with an eye toward SOX readiness
- Support external audits and assist with financial statement disclosures related to inventory and revenue
- Evaluate new products, sales channels, and operational changes to anticipate and address accounting impacts before launch
