OverviewThe Security Engineer will be responsible for installing, configuring, and managing security tools to secure, log, and monitor network traffic and access to systems and applications to prevent data loss. The Security Engineer will be expected to research, test, and implement security solutions that align with industry and organizational best practices and compliance initiatives. In addition, this position requires significant hands-on technical expertise to ensure that all the required security best practices are followed and documentation is accurate and complete. The candidate should possess strong knowledge and experience with risk analysis, network scanning, network security configuration testing, and vulnerability assessments.
The ideal candidate will have Apple Security and Palo Alto experience.
#LI-DNIResponsibilities- Install, configure, and manage various security tools owned by the Security Engineering team such as but not limited to firewalls, endpoint protection, monitoring systems, e-mail security systems, privileged account management systems, network access control, etc.
- Contribute to and create Security Engineering project plans, coordinate vendors and inter-team participation, build and conduct tests, execute against the implementation plan, and track project progress.
- Collaborate with colleagues at all levels across all business and technology functions in order to prioritize and provide guidance on improving Children?s Mercy's overall security posture.
- Provide 3rd level support and troubleshooting for issues escalated from Security Analysts and management.
- Establish secure VPN and remote support capabilities for internal employees and vendors
- Participate in rotating on-call schedule
Qualifications- Bachelor's Degree required and 3-5 years experience or
- Master's Degree and 1-2 years experience or
- HS diploma or equivalent and 5-7 years experience
- Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) Preferred
- Security+ Preferred
- Information Systems Security Engineering Professional (ISSEP) Preferred
- Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) Preferred
- Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) Preferred
- Certified Vulnerability Assessor (CVA) Preferred
- Apple Security Preferred
- Palo Alto Preferred

Starting PayOur pay ranges are market competitive. The pay range for this job begins at $41.57/hr, but your offer will be determined based on your education and experience.
Remote Work/Work from HomeThis position is entirely remote or work-from-home. The person hired must live in the Kansas City metro area and may attend on-site meetings, as scheduled.
