Job Description:Scientist, RD&Q Raw Materials The Scientist, RD&Q Raw Materials creates and maintains raw material specifications and its business process to support global gum, mint and fruity confections products.
The role safeguards the ongoing integrity of raw material specifications as key foundations for product creation and traceability, while supporting associated systems, data and process improvements.
What are we looking for?- Bachelor's degree in food science, Biology, Microbiology, Chemistry or a related scientific discipline.
- Minimum of 6 years' experience creating, reviewing or maintaining raw material, ingredient, product or quality specifications in a food, consumer goods or similarly regulated environment. Experience in gum, mint and fruity confections preferred.
- Knowledge of SAP data management and experience working with specification, product lifecycle or related information systems.
- Experience supporting system testing, implementation, data conversion or ERP transformation is preferred.
- Strong understanding of raw material risk assessment, specification change control, product traceability and data integrity principles.
- Meticulous attention to detail, with the ability to manage detailed technical information accurately and consistently.
- Proven success learning quickly new information systems and the technical language and terminology used in R&D and Supply.
- Ability to follow standard processes, assess the impact of specification modifications and recommend practical improvements.
- Strong written communication and stakeholder-management skills, including the ability to provide timely, accurate and succinct updates.
What would your key responsibilities be?Raw material specification creation and maintenance- Create and revise raw material specifications for global gum, mint and fruity confections products.
- Provide feedback to Product Development on the accuracy of specification change requests to continually improve process inputs.
- Update specifications in response to changing requirements, changes to MRA templates and supplier disputes.
- Maintain the integrity of raw material specifications and apply modification impact analysis to determine the appropriate course of action for specification changes.
Systems and process support - Support testing and implementation of raw material and recipe-related system enhancements, including assistance with conversion between ERP systems.
- Follow standard processes consistently and recommend improvements where opportunities are identified.
- Owns the global raw material specifications business process
- Owns, manages & communicates specifications metrics
The base pay range for this position at commencement of employment is between the range listed below, however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position will include variable pay, medical and dental benefits, participation in 401k plan, and paid time off benefits.
