Scheduling Senior Manager

Position Overview

AST SpaceMobile is seeking an experienced and highly analytical Scheduling Senior Manager to lead enterprise production scheduling operations in support of large-scale manufacturing activities across multiple operational sites. This role will be responsible for overseeing production scheduling strategy, coordinating closely with the Planning team, managing production order release schedules, and ensuring alignment between material availability, manufacturing capacity, and production execution.

The Scheduling Senior Manager will play a critical role in optimizing production flow, balancing manufacturing resources, minimizing bottlenecks, and driving schedule adherence across complex manufacturing operations. This leader will work cross-functionally with Supply Chain, Planning, Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, and Program Management teams to ensure efficient execution of production schedules in support of aggressive production targets.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage enterprise-wide production scheduling operations supporting manufacturing activities across multiple company sites.
  • Partner closely with Production Planning teams to develop and maintain integrated manufacturing schedules aligned with production demand forecasts.
  • Manage production order scheduling processes, including creation, prioritization, release sequencing, schedule adjustments, and execution tracking.
  • Develop and maintain master production schedules that balance manufacturing capacity, material availability, labor resources, and production priorities.
  • Coordinate daily scheduling activities to ensure timely release and execution of production work orders.
  • Monitor production schedule adherence and proactively identify scheduling conflicts, bottlenecks, or production constraints that impact manufacturing throughput.
  • Work closely with Supply Chain and Procurement teams to align production schedules with incoming material availability and supplier delivery timelines.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing and Engineering teams to optimize production sequencing and improve operational efficiency.
  • Establish scheduling processes and standards that improve production flow, reduce downtime, and maximize manufacturing output.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on schedule optimization, throughput efficiency, capacity planning, and manufacturing execution performance.
  • Monitor key production scheduling metrics including schedule attainment, production throughput, resource utilization, backlog management, and cycle time performance.
  • Lead escalation management related to production schedule disruptions, supply shortages, engineering changes, or operational delays.
  • Support long-range capacity planning initiatives and production ramp strategies as manufacturing demands scale.
  • Manage and develop scheduling personnel while building scalable production scheduling infrastructure for future operational growth.

Qualifications

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, Manufacturing Engineering, Business Administration, or related technical discipline preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education and directly related manufacturing scheduling experience may be considered.

Experience
  • 8+ years of experience in production scheduling, manufacturing planning, supply chain operations, or manufacturing operations management.
  • 5+ years of leadership experience managing production scheduling, planning, or manufacturing operations teams.
  • Experience managing production order scheduling within high-volume manufacturing environments.
  • Strong background working with integrated production planning and scheduling systems in complex manufacturing operations.
  • Experience managing cross-functional coordination between planning, production, supply chain, and engineering teams.
  • Proven experience optimizing production schedules and improving manufacturing throughput performance.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working within aerospace, satellite manufacturing, automotive, electronics manufacturing, or other advanced manufacturing industries.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing resource planning (MRP), production control systems, and shop floor scheduling processes.
  • Experience managing complex production schedules involving multi-stage manufacturing operations and engineering-driven production environments.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Theory of Constraints, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Experience supporting rapid production scaling and high-growth manufacturing organizations.
  • Understanding of engineering change management processes and their impact on production scheduling execution.
