  • Manage collection activities ranging from routine delinquency management through complex default situations involving litigation, foreclosure, and other recovery actions.
  • Lead borrower workout negotiations, restructurings, deferments, and other resolution strategies, coordinating closely with internal and external counsel to ensure all required legal documentation is appropriately prepared and executed.
  • Manage bankruptcy matters involving SBA borrowers, including coordinating with counsel, monitoring proceedings, protecting lender and SBA interests, and ensuring required actions and documentation are completed.
  • Oversee legal monitoring and reporting requirements in accordance with applicable SBA guidelines and internal policies.
  • Manage servicing matters involving receiverships and ensure compliance with applicable SBA requirements throughout the process.
  • Oversee REO and other acquired asset management, including property oversight, valuation, disposition strategy, and coordination with brokers, legal counsel, and other third-party professionals.
  • Conduct and/or coordinate physical inspections of underlying collateral across the portfolio; nationwide travel may be required.
  • Monitor portfolio performance and proactively identify emerging credit, collateral, operational, and compliance risks.
  • Oversee loan compliance monitoring, including hazard and liability insurance, property and ad valorem taxes, franchise requirements, ownership changes, collateral documentation, financial statements, tax returns, and other required borrower reporting.

  • Prepare and/or oversee secondary market repurchase requests and coordinate the associated documentation and approval process.
  • Prepare and review SBA guaranty purchase documentation, including UPP/CPC packages, liquidation plans, wrap-up reports, and other required SBA submissions, with a focus on maintaining documentation necessary to preserve the SBA guaranty.
  • Maintain a strong working knowledge of SBA 172 and 1502 reporting requirements and support timely, complete, and accurate reporting across the portfolio.
  • Understand the financial implications of servicing decisions and delays, including how servicing actions or inaction may impact company income, recoveries, expenses, and overall portfolio economics.
  • Maintain a working understanding of warehouse facility and securitization eligibility requirements and consider potential implications when evaluating servicing actions.
  • Coordinate with legal, accounting, credit, management, and other internal and external professionals on complex servicing, workout, liquidation, and asset management matters.
  • Maintain comprehensive and accurate servicing documentation within loan servicing and document management systems.
  • Serve as a key point of contact for internal and external audits, SBA reviews, and regulatory examinations related to loan servicing activities.
  • Analyze portfolio data and servicing trends to identify emerging risks, process improvements, and opportunities to strengthen controls and operational efficiency.
  • Develop, enhance, and maintain servicing policies, procedures, controls, and best practices consistent with SBA requirements and the organization's risk management framework.
  • Provide guidance, training, and mentorship to junior servicing professionals and serve as an escalation point for complex borrower and servicing matters.
  • Partner cross-functionally with originations, underwriting, closing, credit, accounting, legal, and senior leadership to ensure effective management of the SBA portfolio.
  • Provide management with regular reporting and updates regarding portfolio performance, delinquent and criticized assets, servicing activity, recovery efforts, and emerging risks.
