This position is 4 days in officeThe RoleReporting to the Director, Financial Applications, the SAP Functional Analyst provides functional analysis, configuration, support, and continuous improvement for SAP Finance processes and related financial applications across the firm. The role has primary responsibility for Record to Report, including General Ledger, Fixed Assets, Controlling, period-end close, financial reporting, postings, reconciliations, and controls.
Working closely with Finance, Procurement, HR, Operations, IT, vendors, and implementation partners, the SAP Senior Functional Analyst is accountable for maintaining the functional integrity of the SAP platform while ensuring solutions remain scalable, supportable, auditable, and aligned with firm objectives.
The role supports process standardization, data quality, controls compliance, testing, documentation, and continuous improvement while helping shape the long-term evolution of NRF Canada's SAP Centre of Excellence.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
Key Responsibilities- Provide functional support and analysis for SAP Finance, with primary focus on Record to Report processes.
- Gather and document business requirements, process issues, enhancement needs, and acceptance criteria with Finance stakeholders.
- Translate approved requirements into functional specifications, process flows, configuration changes, test scenarios, and support documentation.
- Configure and maintain SAP ECC functionality within assigned Finance areas in accordance with approved standards and controls.
- Investigate and resolve production incidents and functional defects, escalating cross-module or complex design issues as required.
- Collaborate with Senior SAP Functional Analysts, Technical Analysts, Reporting, Security, business teams, and vendors to deliver integrated solutions.
- Support functional testing, business validation, user acceptance testing, defect resolution, and deployment readiness.
- Maintain functional configuration records, process documentation, test evidence, knowledge articles, and support procedures.
- Apply established internal controls, segregation-of-duties requirements, audit standards, data-governance practices, and change-management procedures.
- Support SAP enhancements, patches, releases, integrations, reporting changes, cutover activities, and post-deployment stabilization.
- Perform root-cause analysis for recurring process and application issues and recommend practical corrective actions.
- Provide functional guidance and knowledge transfer to users and support teams within the assigned Finance scope.
- Contribute estimates, risks, dependencies, and recommendations to enhancement prioritization and release planning.
- Support SAP S/4HANA readiness and transformation activities through process documentation, testing, data validation, and assigned transition activities.
Skills and Experience Required- 7+ years of experience supporting SAP functional configuration and analysis in Finance, accounting, or a related business environment.
- Hands-on SAP ECC Finance experience, with strong knowledge of Record to Report processes including General Ledger, Fixed Assets, Controlling, period-end close, financial reporting, postings, reconciliations, and controls.
- Fluently bilingual in English and French
- Ability to analyze Finance and SAP process requirements and produce clear functional specifications, test scenarios, support documentation, and practical recommendations.
- Experience supporting SAP production issues, enhancements, patches, releases, integrations, reporting changes, or broader Finance Applications initiatives.
- Experience with functional configuration, testing, defect resolution, deployment readiness, and post-deployment stabilization.
- Working knowledge of SAP internal controls, segregation of duties, audit requirements, data governance, change management, and release management.
- Awareness of adjacent SAP processes and modules that integrate with Finance, with the ability to identify cross-functional impacts and engage the appropriate specialists.
- Exposure to SAP S/4HANA through an implementation, migration, upgrade, assessment, readiness, or transformation initiative is an asset.
- Experience working with systems integrators, managed service providers, implementation partners, or third-party vendors.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, documentation, stakeholder-management, facilitation, and communication skills across business, end-user, and technical audiences.
- SAP certification and experience in a professional-services or legal environment are assets.
- Ability to work independently within an assigned functional scope while escalating complex or cross-functional decisions appropriately.
