Transdev Canada is hiring a Safety & Training Manager for our Vancouver, BC location.

Transdev Canada is seeking an experienced Safety & Training Manager to lead health, safety, and training programs for our Vancouver HandyDART operation. This role combines strategic leadership with hands-on support, ensuring a proactive safety culture, regulatory compliance, and continuous employee development. The ideal candidate is a collaborative and resourceful leader with deep OH&S expertise, strong communication skills, and a passion for building safer, smarter transportation environments.

Your Role
  • Provide a wide range of OH&S leadership and support to the HandyDART operation by researching, developing, administering and sustaining safe work, while building strong relationships with a wide range of stakeholders both internal and external.
  • Develop and support processes that encourage employee participation in safety, leadership engagement and positive recognition to foster safe and healthy working environments.
  • Manage the Safety and Training Department in a unionized environment.
  • Act as the first point of contact for HandyDART with WorkSafeBC regarding policy and operational matters related to HSE.
  • Partner with Managers to diagnose HSE related issues and recommend solutions that drive desired change.
  • Be accountable for the safety performance of Vancouver HandyDART. Maintain and distribute safety data to the Joint Occupational Health & Safety Committees and ensure corrective actions are followed up on.
  • Oversee all aspects of curriculum design, training implementation, and documentation for new and existing HandyDART Drivers.
  • Manage WSBC claims process and return-to-work program. Develops training programs that meet the specific needs of employees that are returning to work or require remedial or refresher training. Provides appropriate training and assesses individual's performance.
  • Contribute to the development and testing of emergency plans to support the region.
  • Monitor trends in leading and lagging indicators, reporting and communicating performance
  • Conduct incident investigations, risk assessments, and safety inspections as required. Identify areas of concern and make recommendations on safety issues.
  • Managing performance reporting requirements both internally and externally.

Your Profile
  • Post secondary certificate in Occupational Health and/or Safety and a minimum of 7 years of related experience.
  • 5 years of management experience.
  • A safety related professional designation (such as CRSP, CHSC) is an asset.
  • Experience working in a unionized environment is considered an asset
  • Class 5 driver's license required. Use of a personal vehicle to travel between worksites or other locations is a primary job duty.
  • Knowledgeable in the areas of the Workers' Compensation Act, WorkSafeBC OH&S.
  • Proficient in incident investigation techniques, WorkSafeBC claims management, OH&S Program management and occupational hygiene.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide advice and support to managers, supervisors, employees and Occupational Health & Safety committee representatives.
  • The ability to exercise sound judgement while managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
