Position Description

Overview

This position is responsible for managing the risk of the organization through the effective use of contracts, insurance, risk management, legal services and safety protocols. This position is also responsible for assuring that the company is effectively maintaining all required corporate filings and business licenses.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordinates the marketing and binding of insurance coverage for the organization utilizing insurance brokers. Collects data and completes applications as necessary. Reviews insurance for accuracy, reports and oversees claims, reports changes in operations and assets.
  • Responsible for the case management of legal issues utilizing approved counsel. Serves as point of contact for counsel and ensures that insurance coverage is leveraged. Coordinates and seeks insurance approval of counsel. Organizes and responds to production of documents under advice of counsel.
  • Establishes, reviews and adjusts template contracts balancing operational need with good risk management practices. Implements training for new employees who are assuming positions which utilize or administer contracts. Reviews contract provisions outside of the company's normal course of risk management guidelines and works with the President of the company to determine optimal path forward. This position requires regular drafting of contract language for review and approval.
  • Ensures appropriate tools are implemented companywide to support lien notice services and the placement of liens as necessary.
  • Working with surety broker, serves as the coordinator of company's surety bonds. Ensures proper contract reviews are accomplished, evidence of financing protocols are being met and bond requirements are consistent with company risk objectives. Maintains list of active bonds and close-out of same.
  • Ensures that the safety programs of the organization are effectively implemented and appropriate for operations; coordinates with Human Resources Manager. Programs include auto, equipment and daily worker's compensation exposures.
  • Reviews registrations and licenses maintained by the operating entities. Ensures that the corporate entity files are maintained in good standing. Utilizes registered agent services to accept service of process, maintain files and implement changes in officers or organization. Prepares consent documents as necessary for updating officers and directors.
  • Supervises and supports the IT management function through a direct report and the utilization of security and help desk vendors. Ensures cyber risk management program is effectively implemented and managed. Verifies the help desk system is effectively responding to the organization's needs.
