Qualifications

  • A valid driver's license with a clean driving record is necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and process permit applications, petitions, and traffic forms for the City of Boston.
  • Review and expedite billing related to jointly owned infrastructure and services.
  • Communicate effectively with outside agencies to promote the company's image.
  • Assist higher-rated employees with administrative tasks.
  • Handle requests and billing related to CATV, foreign attachments, and railroads.

Full Job Description

POSITION: 1 –Rights, Permits & Work Order Clerk, Gr. 11

DEPARTMENT: Rights, Permits & Public Works

LOCATION: Dorchester, MA                                                                                           

CURRENTLY POSTED HOURS: 7:00AM – 3:30PM

SCHEDULE: M-F

STARTING RATE OF PAY: $47.52 p/hr.

REMARKS:        

Prepare and process permit applications, petitions, including plan orders, grants of location, and traffic forms for City of Boston.  Prepare, review, process and expedite all jointly owned billing with telephone company.  Prepare review, process and expedite all records, requests, billing etc., related to CATV, foreign attachments, and railroads.  Many of the job functions performed by the incumbents require the ability to communicate with outside agencies in a manner that enhances the Company image.  Assist employees of higher rating. 

 MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Successful completion of two (2) college level courses: Real Estate Fundamentals and Oral Communications. Courses must be three (3) semester hours each.
  • Must have a Paralegal Certificate or Associates’ Degree in Business, Legal Studies, or equivalent. Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Must obtain Notary Public stamp within in first three (3) months.
  • Valid drivers’ license and clean driving record

Responding to emergency situations to meet customers’ needs is part of every employee’s role. If employed, you will be given an Emergency Restoration assignment.  This means you may be called to assist during an emergency outside of your normal responsibilities, work hours and location.
