The Role
Moderna is seeking a strategic and commercially driven Retail Pricing & Access Lead to drive pricing and access strategy across the U.S. retail channel for Moderna’s respiratory vaccine portfolio. This role will be responsible for developing and executing retail pricing architecture, optimizing retail demand, and driving profitable access across pharmacies, retail clinics, and distribution partners.
The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in vaccine or pharmaceutical channel pricing, retail market access, contract strategy, and gross-to-net management, combined with strong cross-functional leadership capabilities. This individual will play a critical role in maximizing retail channel performance, balancing access, affordability, and commercial objectives in a rapidly evolving respiratory vaccine landscape.
Here’s What You’ll Do
Retail Pricing & Access Strategy
- Develop and execute the U.S. retail pricing and access strategy for Moderna’s respiratory vaccine portfolio.
- Design and manage retail pricing architecture aligned to commercial goals, competitive dynamics, reimbursement considerations, and channel economics.
- Establish strategic frameworks for pricing across retail pharmacies, retail clinics, wholesalers, and distribution partners.
- Evaluate market trends, payer dynamics, competitive pricing actions, and channel shifts to inform strategic decisions.
Channel Margin & Contract Management
- Lead development and optimization of channel margin strategies across pharmacies, distributors, and retail accounts.
- Negotiate and manage commercial agreements with national and regional retail pharmacy chains, distributors, and retail clinic organizations.
- Structure and oversee retail contract terms, rebates, fees, and performance-based arrangements.
- Partner with Legal, Finance, and Compliance to ensure contract integrity and adherence to company policies.
Discounts, Concessions & Gross-to-Net Management
- Lead retail channel discount and concession strategy to support access and demand generation while protecting profitability.
- Manage gross-to-net implications across retail accounts and distribution partners.
- Analyze financial impact of pricing decisions, incentives, and access programs on net revenue performance.
- Monitor and optimize pricing execution across customer segments and channels.
Retail Demand Optimization
- Develop strategies to enhance retail vaccine uptake and improve channel performance.
- Partner with Commercial Operations, Marketing, Supply Chain, and Sales to align pricing and access strategies with demand generation initiatives.
- Lead launch readiness and seasonal planning activities for respiratory vaccine campaigns.
- Identify opportunities to improve inventory flow, ordering behavior, and retail engagement.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Stakeholder Management
- Serve as the primary commercial partner across internal stakeholders to align retail pricing and access strategies with broader portfolio and enterprise objectives.
- Partner closely with U.S. channel leaders, account teams, Commercial Operations, Market Access, Supply Chain, Forecasting, and Marketing to optimize retail channel execution, customer performance, and demand generation.
- Collaborate with Finance, Contracting, Legal, and Compliance to evaluate pricing scenarios, manage gross-to-net impact, and structure retail agreements and channel partnerships.
- Engage with global counterparts to ensure alignment on pricing principles, access strategy, governance, and best-practice sharing across markets.
- Present retail pricing and access recommendations to senior leadership, providing strategic guidance informed by market dynamics, customer insights, and financial analysis.
Performance Accountability
- Accountable for retail pricing performance, net price realization, and contributing to retail channel volume objectives.
- Establish KPIs and performance metrics to monitor channel health, pricing effectiveness, and access outcomes.
- Deliver regular business reviews and strategic recommendations to senior leadership.
- Drive continuous optimization of retail channel economics and customer performance.
Here’s What You’ll Need (Basic Qualifications)
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Life Sciences, or related field.
- 10+ years of experience in pharmaceutical or vaccine pricing, market access, channel strategy, or commercial contracting.
- Deep understanding of U.S. retail pharmacy and distributor landscape, including vaccine distribution and reimbursement dynamics.
- Experience managing retail pricing architecture, channel economics, and gross-to-net processes.
- Proven success negotiating contracts with retail pharmacy chains, distributors, or healthcare customers.
- Strong analytical and financial modeling capabilities.
- Demonstrated ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders and senior leadership.
Here’s What You’ll Bring to the Table (Preferred Qualifications):
- Experience in vaccines, infectious disease, or respiratory therapeutic areas.
- MBA or advanced degree preferred.
- Experience supporting product launches or seasonal commercial planning.
- Familiarity with public-sector vaccine programs and retail immunization trends.

Location-specific perks and extras
The salary range for this role is $183,800.00 - $330,300.00. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An individual’s position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, performance, and business or organizational needs.
The successful candidate may be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, other incentive compensation, or equity award, subject to company plan eligibility criteria and individual performance.
