Salary Range: $73,069 - $91,347 Per Year
Hours: 37.5 Hours Per Week
Shifts: Day shifts; Monday - Friday
Status: Temporary Full-Time (1 year contract)

Position Summary:
Research Technician III serves as wet-lab lead for recombinant protein production and ensuring the technical alignment of the protein production team. This is a senior bench-focused role responsible for the daily execution of experiments, material logistics, and data integrity.

Duties
  • Protein Production
    • Function as the lead for wet-lab insect cell protein production to meet project milestones.
    • Collect and record experimental data, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
    • Lead rigorous quality control assessments on production batches.
  • Laboratory Management
    • Support global logistics for protein distribution, managing the team's inventory and coordinating documentation for all incoming and outgoing shipments
    • Prepare, assemble, and set up equipment, reagents, and supplies for protein production workflows.
    • Proactively manage the lifecycle of laboratory consumables, identifying procurement needs and stocking requirements before they impact production timelines.
    • Organize routine equipment checks, CIP procedures, and notify the lab manager of any issues.
  • Data & Records
    • Enter and maintain accurate data in laboratory databases and shared records.
    • Prepare and present summaries of production runs and QC results.
    • Define and enforce traceability standards for the labeling and storage of biological samples
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for the documentation and logistics for material transfers
  • Health & Safety
    • Follow established laboratory safety guidelines at all times.
    • Handle biological materials, chemicals, and equipment in compliance with safety protocols.
    • Contribute to maintaining a safe and orderly work environment.


Qualifications
  • At minimum, completion of a Bachelor's degree program, or recognized equivalent in health or science related discipline required
  • At minimum, 6 years of relevant independent, hands-on experience producing recombinant proteins in insect cells
    • 5 years experience working in a structural biology laboratory an asset
  • Experience with secreted and intracellular insect cell protein expression using BEVS and Sf9
  • At least 5 years experience purifying recombinant proteins (affinity, IEX, SEC...) and QC using Mass Spectrometry, DSF and/or related methods an asset
  • Experience in high-throughput protein production
  • Experience with mammalian systems considered a plus
  • Proven ability to optimize and scale parallel protein expression and purification
  • Proficiency with automated FPLC systems
  • Ability to follow established protocols with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong record-keeping and data entry skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety practices.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
