About the Role

You will play an essential role in supporting SFU's participation in Horizon Europe, the European Union's flagship research and innovation program, providing access to high-impact collaborations involving universities, industry, governments, and research institutes across Europe and beyond. The role will navigate the program's complexity and ensure SFU researchers can compete effectively in this highly competitive environment, through promoting awareness, ensuring compliance, building capacity, supporting proposal development and facilitating connections with international partners and consortium leads. The focus of the next phase of support will be to expand SFU's engagement in the program, increase our success rate, and build a strong pipeline of potential proposals.

You bring experience in the management and administration of research contracts, grants, and networks in a university setting. You are a big-picture thinker, able to anticipate and mitigate potential risks and impacts across a large portfolio of projects. You are a problem-solver who often does their best work under rapidly changing and uncertain situations. You enjoy applying project management principles and methodologies to address challenges. You are familiar with SFU systems/processes/units and Horizon Europe.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Science or Applied Sciences, or other relevant discipline, and three years related experience in the administration and development of research contracts, grants, and networks, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Excellent project management skills.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, quantitative, analytical, communication, interpersonal, time management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of University research and governmental funding agency research policies, rules, regulations, and best practices.
  • Excellent knowledge of scientific research grants and contract funding requirements.
  • Ability to interact productively and professionally with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
