Reps & Warranties M&A - Insurance Broker

The New York office of Aon is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Broker to join our Dynamic transactional insurance M&A and Transaction Solutions team. You will work directly with senior members of the Representations & Warranty and Tax teams in the placement and negotiation of sophisticated transactional insurance products on behalf of private equity and corporate clients, gaining hands-on experience, industry leading training and mentorship in a fast-paced M&A environment.

This position offers a broad range of responsibilities over corporate transactions at the intersection of mergers & acquisitions, legal risk assessment and insurance underwriting. Candidates should possess the ability to get along with and advise business, financial and legal persons throughout the deal cycle.

Candidate must have a strong academic record, excellent analytical and oral communication skills and the ability to work independently with clients and colleagues. In addition, the candidate must be a proven self-starter willing to take on a good deal of responsibility with the ability to problem solve and advise clients involved in sophisticated transactions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support senior brokers in the structuring and placement of R&W and Tax insurance policies for domestic and cross-border M&A deals.
  • Analyze quotes for proposed M&A insurance policies and prepare term comparisons for client review.
  • Coordinate with underwriters and clients/advisors throughout the underwriting process, helping handle deadlines and information flow.
  • Track deal activity, carrier quotes, policy terms, and pipeline status using internal tools and systems.
  • Work with the billing team to prepare client invoices and run billing process.
  • Participate in underwriting calls and deal discussions, with opportunities to contribute to strategy and client engagement.
  • Assist with client pitches, business development initiatives, and special projects.
  • Develop and cultivate relationships with M&A insurance underwriters, lawyers, private equity firms and company deal principals, and internal Aon colleagues.

Skills and Experience Required:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Property and Casualty license, or the ability to get a P&C license within six months of employment.
  • At least 3-6 years of full-time work experience in insurance, financial services, legal sector or related field.
  • Exceptional analytical and negotiating skills.
  • Proven experience managing multiple projects simultaneously and producing quality deliverables with strong attention to detail, tight deadlines and deal-time pressures.
  • Professionalism and poise in client-facing communications and excellent verbal and written communication skills, including presentation skills.
  • Great teammate who takes initiative, is resourceful and is self-motived.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and other insurance software tools.
  • Identify and articulate client/prospect needs and solves sophisticated deal problems and issues.

Skills and Experience Preferred:
  • Commercial insurance experience (e.g. underwriting, broking, claims, or a support role).
  • Familiarity with mergers & acquisitions, private equity, or corporate law concepts.
  • Comfort working with legal documents and insurance contracts.
  • Curiosity about legal risk, deal mechanics and insurance structuring.

Pay Transparency Laws:

The salary range for this position (intended for U.S. applicants) is $125,000 to $175,000 annually. The actual salary will vary based on applicant's education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant's geographic location.

This position is eligible to participate in one of Aon's annual incentive plans to receive an annual discretionary bonus in addition to base salary. The amount of any bonus varies and is subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable incentive plan.
