Overview

GovCIO is currently hiring for a Release Manager to lead and coordinate change and release activities supporting day-to-day operations to ensure 24×7 system availability.  This role is a fully remote position within the United States with core hours of operation from Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM ET.

Responsibilities

A Release Manager must have experience in management of individual releases of software, hardware, or other system components.  Must have experience in coordinating with QA, Development, packaging, and hardware teams. The release manager must have experience in release management process, risks analysis and maintaining the schedule of planned releases.

  • Create, manage, and close change tickets; obtain approvals; communicate status throughout the release lifecycle. 
  • Engage in technical discussions and problem-solving sessions during deployment; provide subject-matter expertise in Change Management. 
  • Coordinate cross-functionally with QA, Development, packaging, and hardware teams to plan and execute releases. 
  • Maintain the schedule of planned releases; perform risk analysis and readiness assessments. 
  • Ensure adherence to VA change management processes to deploy releases and changes efficiently and compliantly. 

 

Qualifications

Bachelor's in Business Administration, Business Management, Computer Science, Information Systems,  Operations Research or related fields with 5+ years (or commensurate experience)

Required Skills and Experience

 

  • Bachelor's Degree and 8+ years of experience (or commensurate experience)
  • Demonstrated experience managing releases of software, hardware, or system components. 
  • Proven coordination with QA, Development, packaging, and hardware teams. 
  • Hands-on experience with release management processes, risk analysis, and scheduling of planned releases. 
  • Strong familiarity with VA change management processes (e.g., ServiceNow Change, CAB workflows).
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management across technical and business teams. 

 

 

Clearance Required:  Ability to obtain and maintain a Suitability/Public Trust clearance

Preferred Skills and Experience

 

  • ITIL certification or equivalent practical experience in IT Service Management. 
  • Experience providing change and incident management for multiple critical VA applications in the VHA Front Office Product Line 
  • Experience in large-scale, 24×7 operations environments. 
  • Experience within the Department of Veterans Affairs or other federal agencies. 
  • Familiarity with Agile/SAFe release trains and coordination.
