This role is part of Blue Origin corporate functions, providing centralized support across Blue Origin business unit teams, functions, and locations.

As part of a small, passionate, and accomplished team of experts in the Legal and Compliance Department, you will help shape the company's radio spectrum program and strategy. Beyond providing advice as a subject matter expert in the areas described below, you will develop processes and tools to amplify the impact of the spectrum program, assist with growing new business, and ensure the timely and efficient delivery of technical and regulatory support.

Responsibilities:
  • With support, act as a technical resource for regulatory and spectrum interests, and perform radio frequency interference and compatibility assessments, assist with terrestrial and satellite frequency coordination, assist with spectrum licensing efforts, and assist with ITU advocacy.
  • Develop expertise in regulations and procedures governing the conduct of the company's business, including compliance with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), International Telecommunications Union (ITU), and other relevant regulatory bodies.
  • Support development of tools and techniques necessary for spectrum licensing and coordination both domestically for the FCC and internationally for the ITU.
  • Have some knowledge of the FCC and ITU terrestrial and satellite databases containing licensing and registration information and some experience using their software programs to explore and create technical data in support of licensing and registration.
  • Be able to identify compliance risks that impact company and assist with establishing scalable processes to help reduce risks.
  • Define and drive scalable processes and a broad and robust spectrum strategy focused on identifying, addressing, and monitoring compliance risks.


Qualifications:
  • B.S. in electrical engineering, with focus on telecommunications.
  • 3-5 years of combined spectrum engineering and policy experience with a corporation, law firm, and/or a government entity.
  • Experience identifying legal requirements and assisting with development of compliance procedures for regulatory requirements.
  • Proactively take initiative, maintain a high level of motivation and accountability for deliverables.
  • Familiarity with RF analysis and coordination tools (e.g., Visualyse, MATLAB, STK, or equivalent), or the demonstrated ability to learn them quickly. Collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams, fostering open communication, mutual respect, and a shared commitment to achieving organizational goals.
  • Demonstrates clear verbal and written communication abilities, with the capacity to convey complex concepts effectively to legal counterparts.
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain productive work relationships, contribute to a culture of inclusion, work collaboratively across the company, and provide guidance and advice directly to colleagues.


Desired:
  • Familiarity with export control regulations, including International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the Export Administration Regulations (EAR).

Familiarity with internal and external audit programs and requirements.

Base Pay Range for:
VA applicants is $156,802.00 - $219,522.45WA applicants is $156,802.00 - $219,522.45
