Registered Nurse (RN)-Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CVICU)

WORK LOCATION: Texas Health Dallas, 8200 Walnut Hill Ln, Dallas, TX 75231
WORK HOURS: Full time Nights, 7P-7A for 36 hours per week. Weekend and holiday requirements

CVICU Department Highlights:
• The CVICU is a 30-bed intensive care unit that specializes in advanced Cardiac and Vascular surgical procedures.
• Our ICU units are located in the Hamon Tower, the largest expansion in the hospital's history, which opened in 2009.
• Our board-certified critical care physicians directly oversee patient care in the ICU throughout the day. Providers are on the unit 24 hours a day.
• Critical care nurses, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants - all trained in critical care medicine - work collaboratively to provide care in the ICU.
• The staffing is dependent by acuity, normally a 2:1 ratio

HERE'S WHAT YOU NEED:
• Diploma of Nursing OR Associate degree in Nursing (ADN) required;
• BSN preferred.
• Other - CLIAFE Must comply with CLIA regulations regarding foreign education equivalency Req
• One-year critical care nursing experience, or completion of an RN residency required
• Cardiac ICU experience strongly preferred - including open-heart surgery recovery, IABP, Impella, CRRT, and bedside ECMO management.
• BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly Required AND
• ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support Upon Hire Required (Expiration date greater than 3 months preferred)
• CPI - Crisis Prevention Intervention Training Maintained Annually within 90 Days Required

HERE'S WHAT YOU WILL DO
• Delivers care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process
• Assesses the patient
• Plans the care of the patient
• Intervenes as appropriate
• Evaluates the effectiveness of interventions
• Incorporates age specific safety/infection control measures into patient care.
• Initiates action to meet patient and/or significant others need for information
• Maintains continuity of patient care inter-shift, inter-hospital, and while expediting out of hospital transfers.
