Job Duties

The successful incumbent will have:

-Extensive knowledge of mental illnesses and principles and practices of psychiatric nursing.
-Knowledge of, and ability to effectively implement principles of leadership, management, and team-building and quality improvement.
-Demonstrated ability to plan, organize and direct unit-based comprehensive nursing activities.
-Demonstrated ability to supervise, train, develop and motivate employees.
-Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
-Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with Nursing Leadership peers, discipline staff, administration, the public and other agencies.
-Ability to supervise and make judgments about staff performance and provide actionable positive and corrective feedback.
-Ability to effectively manage resources and multiple, changing priorities.
-Comprehensive knowledge of administrative functions and demonstrated ability to develop unit objectives, policies and standards.
-Demonstrated ability to evaluate clinical and administrative issues and participate in budget development and management.

Minimum Qualifications

-Licensed or eligible for licensure as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
-Prior significant psychiatric nursing experience required & demonstrated experience in managerial elements.
