**The Position is located at the DMV Headquarters**

This position is responsible for the administrative oversight and leadership of Driver Services operations across North Carolina. This position provides strategic direction and managerial support for Driver Services staff, ensuring the consistent application of NC Motor Vehicle laws and the promotion of highway safety. The role encompasses the planning, development, and implementation of policies and procedures to support the examining program. Responsibilities include resolving operational challenges, managing resources, consulting with Driver Services managers, and interpreting federal and state regulations. The incumbent must evaluate existing systems, design and implement business and programming processes, and identify and deploy technological solutions that enhance service delivery, system efficiency, and program performance. This includes analyzing program functionality, identifying gaps, proposing resolutions, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure successful implementation and training. Project management methodologies are applied to support these initiatives.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies
Management prefers applicants with the following:
  • Working knowledge of federal and state laws governing the issuance of driver licenses and identification cards
  • Knowledge of Division policies, rules, and procedures, with the demonstrated ability to interpret and apply them accurately.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and manage teams by setting expectations, fostering accountability, and driving high performance.
  • Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills used to resolve customer and operational issues effectively.

Additional Expectations:
  • Strong data analysis skills to inform decision-making and performance management is helpful.
  • Considerable experience with Microsoft and other computer applications is helpful.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple high-priority projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines is helpful.
