Orbia Fluor & Energy Materials is currently seeking to hire a
Refrigerants Applications R&D Engineerfor our Houston, TX site. You will be responsible for performing both theoretical and experimental evaluations of
refrigeration and HVAC systems in our applications laboratory. This role requires extensive knowledge in the evaluation and analysis of
thermal systems in general and
HVAC systems specifically. This engineer will be responsible for performing experimental testing and modeling/simulation of
refrigeration and HVAC systems using current and next-generation refrigerants.

Houstonarea)About the Role- Develops work plans, scope, and realistic timetables for all evaluations of refrigeration and HVAC systems/equipment; this will include both modelling and experimental evaluations
- Establish, direct, and deliver project and experimental process excellence, ensuring exemplary safety, health, & environment performance in all experimental activities
- Ensure technical rigor and work alignment with project and business strategic goals
- Participate in the development of our next-generation refrigerants, ensuring that they are compatible with HVAC system components (e.g. heat exchangers, compressors, expansion valves)
- Ensure Orbia's representation in HVAC industry bodies (such as ASHRAE committees); serve as Orbia's lead for ASHRAE technical committee participation
- Works with the applications director and Orbia's commercial teams to understand customers' needs in the refrigeration and HVAC sectors

What You Bring- Must be able to travel up to 30% of the time and have experience working individually/remotely/onsite
- Highly motivated with a proven track record of performing research within the Refrigeration, HVAC, and thermal management industry
- Precision mindset - must follow standards and standard laboratory work practices
- In-depth understanding of thermodynamics, heat transfer, and the behavior of thermal systems
- Advanced modeling or simulation experience
- Excellent presentation skills
- Time management, goal achievement, analytical and conceptual thinking, project coordination, and planning
- Graduate degree - Chemical or Mechanical Engineering
- PhD degree - preferred
- 5+ years of engineering/science experience
- Experience related to thermal systems obtained during graduate studies research will be considered.

"The compensation for this position will typically range from $108,000 -$200,000/yr. The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge/skills, experience, geographical location, and internal equity.
The compensation package may also include short- and long-term incentive compensation.
