Full Job Description
Position Summary

We are seeking a Senior Civil / Structural Engineer to serve as the primary CSA technical authority on the owner's project team. This is a high-impact, single-point accountability role, responsible for ensuring CSA engineering quality, constructability, and compliance across all project phases.

You will work closely with EPC partners, modular fabricators, and construction teams to drive technically sound decisions that protect schedule, safety, quality, and cost, while ensuring alignment with company standards and industry codes.

This role will evolve from a design-focused, office-based position into a field-intensive role as construction ramps up at the project site in St. Gabriel.

The project integrates with an existing operating facility and includes extensive civil, structural, and architectural (CSA) scope, from geotechnical investigations and foundations to buildings, structural steel, and modular interfaces.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Serve as the owner's senior civil/structural engineering authority for the LIPS 6 capital project
  • Provide oversight and technical leadership of EPC and contractor CSA deliverables across all phases (detailed engineering, procurement, modular fabrication, construction, pre-commissioning)
  • Ensure CSA designs comply with company standards, FEED requirements, and applicable codes
  • Lead technical reviews and resolve non-conformances, deviations, and constructability issues
  • Review and respond to RFIs with timely, pragmatic, and technically sound direction
  • Apply strong expertise in:
    • Geotechnical and soils analysis
    • Foundations for major equipment and towers
    • Piling systems
    • Reinforced concrete and structural steel
    • Seismic, dynamic, and vibration analysis
  • Support cost optimization through engineering decisions (design efficiency, constructability, material selection)
(This role does not own capital cost reporting.)
  • Partner with Engineering Manager, Project Manager, Construction, and QA/QC to ensure consistent CSA execution
  • Maintain active site presence during construction, providing real-time engineering support

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (required)
  • 15+ years of progressive experience in civil/structural engineering on medium to large industrial capital projects ($100MM+ TIC)
  • Proven experience of oil & gas, chemical, or petrochemical facilities preferred
  • Demonstrated capability working on the owner's side or in a senior EPC leadership role with strong execution accountability
  • Modular design and modular fabrication experience is highly preferred
  • Strong command of international engineering codes and standards and industrial construction practices
  • Experience working with multiple contractors and geographically distributed teams

Work Environment & Logistics
  • Primary location: St. Gabriel, LA (Greater Baton Rouge area)
  • Combination of office-based engineering work and active construction site presence
  • Ability to work safely in field environments, including wearing PPE and navigating construction areas
  • Preference for local or regional candidates; candidates willing to relocate at their own expense will be considered
  • Travel may be required based on project needs

What We Offer:
  • Opportunity to play a key technical leadership role on a long-duration, flagship capital project
  • Competitive compensation: $108,000 - $200,000 base salary, based on experience and location
  • Short- and long-term incentive opportunities
  • Comprehensive benefits package, including:
    • Medical, dental, and vision coverage
    • 401(k) with company match
    • Paid holidays, vacation, sick time, and parental leave
    • Short- and long-term disability and employee assistance programs
  • Potential opportunity to continue into future capital projects or project phases within Orbia
