Responsibilities

Full Job Description
Job Profile Summary:
The Radiation Oncology Nurse functions an a collaborative role with the Radiation Oncology Team and other healthcare providers in providing continuity and outcome-directed quality patient care. Interdependently assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates care provided throughout the treatment course and follow-up period. Job involves direct patient care and encompasses patient/family teaching, symptom management, counseling, and supportive role to assist patient and family in coping with and adjusting to diagnosis and treatment of cancer.

Schedule: Full-time, Days.

Requirements
• Current Missouri Registered Nurse license.
• AHA BLS For Healthcare Providers Within 30 Days.
• AHA PALS Provider Within 365 Days.
• RN Competency Day Annually By Transcript Due Date.

Preferred Requirements
• Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Training Program (CPI) Within 180 Days

Responsibilities:
• Provides general nursing care to patients. Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with nursing standards and as ordered by the attending physician.
• Observes, documents, and reports patient status during all radiation procedures, including response to medications or adverse reactions to contrast media, drugs, or radiation.
• Educates patient and family members regarding potential radiation side effects/care, diagnostic procedures, medications, And health/wellness.
• Ensures accuracy and completeness of documentation concerning nursing duties performed during patient procedure.
• Coordinates care of inpatients with other members of the healthcare team.
• Notifies Director and/or Radiation Oncologist of problems or potential problems associated with patient care.
• Functions as an information and education resource for the community and staff while maintaining the standards of professional nursing practice.
• Participates in continuous quality improvement activities and educational experiences in support of departmental and divisional nursing philosophy and objectives, as well as health system initiatives.
