Full Job Description
Tesla's in-house Lithium Refinery is located in the greater Corpus Christi area of Texas. This investment is critical to our mission to accelerate the world's transition to sustainable energy and represents our efforts to aggressively increase the supply of battery-grade lithium hydroxide available in North America.
Tesla is looking for a highly motivated Quality Lab Supervisor to provide operational support to the QC laboratory at Tesla's new lithium refinery in Corpus Christi, TX. This role supports laboratory operations including organization of daily work, training, facilities management, and providing technical guidance for quality testing in a multidiscipline lab team.

Responsibilities
  • Facilitate good laboratory practices for incoming quality and production in a chemical plant environment including Lab sample management, training, and process development; Lab facilities and environmental monitoring and control; Calibration and maintenance of lab equipment; and enforcing lab safety practices
  • Perform analytical testing and method development activities including ICP, IC, Particle Size Analysers, Automatic Titrators, etc.
  • Support a team of materials scientists, engineers, chemists, and technicians performing routine quality testing as well as extremely high priority/rapid response projects
  • Manage daily test requests and sample workflow to ensure consistently high level of timely accurate measurement, evaluation, and analytical services
  • Supervise the day to day work of laboratory technicians and ensure their testing is performed following established procedures through training and technical assistanc and monitor and report ongoing lab work status to lab management while driving lab operational improvements
  • Utilize laboratory information management systems to track sample testing, train employees, and maintain security and confidentiality and ensure all team members working in and/or visiting the lab adhere to safety rules and good laboratory practices


Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related fields, or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in a QC lab environment running analytical equipment and 3+ years of supervisory experience in an analytical lab environment
  • Demonstrated expertise in physical and chemical analytics, method development/validation, and quality controls and experience executing on quality control systems
  • Previous operation and interpretation experience with any of these equipment: ICP, IC,
  • Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize in highly dynamic production environment
  • Detailed-oriented, able to work both independently and in a collaborative project-focused environment, excellent verbal and written communication skills and a strong command of the english language
  • Able to work well under pressure while managing competing demands and tight deadlines
