Full Job Description
The Quality & Safety Manager is responsible for maintaining and improving the company's Quality Management System (ISO 9001:2015), workplace safety programs, and production quality standards. This is a hands-on leadership position that works directly with technicians, machinists, winders, mechanics, painters, warehouse personnel, and field service teams to ensure work is completed safely, correctly, and in compliance with customer requirements.

The successful candidate will spend the majority of their time on the shop floor identifying quality issues, coaching employees, conducting inspections, performing audits, investigating incidents, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements
• Perform daily walk-through inspections of all production areas.
• Verify work is performed according to repair procedures, customer specifications, and internal work instructions.
• Review repair documentation and quality records.
• Conduct in-process and final inspections of motors, generators, pumps, and rotating equipment.
• Identify and address workmanship issues before shipment.
• Assist production personnel with quality-related questions and requirements.
• Lead root cause investigations for quality escapes, rework, and customer complaints.
• Manage Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and corrective actions.

Safety Leadership
• Conduct daily facility safety inspections.
• Identify unsafe conditions and behaviors.
• Lead accident, injury, near-miss, and property damage investigations.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA requirements.
• Verify proper use of PPE throughout the facility.
• Conduct forklift, crane, rigging, electrical safety, and housekeeping audits.
• Lead weekly toolbox talks and monthly safety meetings.
• Stop unsafe work when necessary.

ISO 9001:2015 Compliance
• Maintain ISO quality records and documentation.
• Conduct internal audits.
• Manage corrective and preventive actions.
• Coordinate external ISO audits.
• Ensure departments follow established procedures.
• Maintain calibration records and inspection equipment programs.

Employee Development
• Train employees on quality and safety requirements.
• Mentor supervisors and technicians on best practices.
• Support onboarding of new employees.
• Promote accountability and continuous improvement.

Continuous Improvement
• Drive 5S and workplace organization initiatives.
• Reduce rework and warranty costs.
• Improve shop safety performance.
• Track and report quality and safety metrics.
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and workflow.

Qualifications

Required
• 5+ years experience in industrial manufacturing, motor repair, rotating equipment, machining, or related industries.
• Strong understanding of quality systems and workplace safety.
• Experience working directly in a production environment.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and technical documents.
• Strong communication and leadership skills.

Preferred
• ISO 9001:2015 Internal Auditor Certification.
• OSHA 30 Certification.
• EASA motor repair experience.
• Experience with AC/DC motor repair, pump repair, generators, or rotating equipment.
• Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement experience.

Performance Expectations

The Quality & Safety Manager is expected to:
• Spend approximately 75% of their time on the production floor.
• Conduct daily quality and safety audits.
• Reduce rework and quality escapes.
• Improve housekeeping and shop organization.
• Maintain ISO 9001 compliance.
• Develop a strong safety culture throughout the facility.
• Serve as the primary quality and safety resource for all departments.
