Full Job Description
We are seeking a Supplier Quality Manager to join our Navy Systems team based in York, PA. Our Navy Systems business supports all major defense industrial base shipbuilders and has been supplying mission critical cooling and refrigeration equipment and systems to the US Navy for over 100 years. This key role is responsible for providing day-to-day supplier quality engineering support within the production plant. This role will play an integral role in the monitoring, development, and improvement of our strategic suppliers supporting the business performance objectives of on-time delivery performance, first pass yields and customer satisfaction

Location: York, PA

As a Supplier Quality Manager, you will:

  • Lead, manage and develop the Supplier Quality Engineering Team
  • Lead and manage the supplier performance scorecard process. Develop and analyze key supplier metrics for scrap and rework, first pass yield and supplier responsiveness.
  • Develop, lead and support joint internal and supplier improvement teams to drive sustained annual improvement in Supplier Cost of Poor Quality
  • Manages and drives timely supplier root cause and corrective actions.
  • Provides regular updates to senior leadership on supplier performance, improvement and opportunities
  • Provides quality technical support to the Plant operations and to key suppliers
  • Works with customer service to address product issues, warranty or other problems
  • Facilitates, leads, and participates in scrap and rework reduction teams
  • Develops and improves the Supplier audit process and schedules
  • Works with supply chain to ensure internal and customer requirements are flowed down to suppliers during the procurement process
  • Partners with Supply Chain and Engineering to lead the supplier APQP process and the development of new suppliers.
  • Facilitates, leads, and participates in warranty reduction teams
  • Assists in the development and revision of procedures to support the Plant Operation quality inspection programs
  • Develops inspection test and inspection plans used for the verification of manufactured and purchased components
  • Leads the Quality Engineering team on timely turnaround time of MRB dispositioned returned material to suppliers including requests for RMAs
  • Maintains a working knowledge of government industry codes and standards
  • Conducts quality systems training
  • Adheres to the Company's code of Conduct and business ethics standards
  • Performs first article dimensional reviews for both internal and externally manufactured parts
  • Performs quality-engineering reviews of design documentation for compliance with requirements, including quality manuals and company quality records
  • Participates in the ECN process and product team meetings to resolve quality issues
  • Leads, manages and provides direction to 3rd party source inspectors. Conducts supplier source inspection as needed

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of manufacturing experience in heavy industrial, automotive, aerospace, or metal machining, welding and fabrication
  • Strong QMS knowledge and experience with ISO 9000, TS 16949, or AS 9100
  • Strong understanding and use of Advanced Quality Planning Process Methods and Tools: D/PFMEA, Control Plan and/or PPAP / FAI
  • Proficient in personal computer capabilities in MS Office software, Minitab or other quality data analysis tools
  • Demonstrated planning and problem solving skills, preferably with 8D Methodology, DMAIC, data analysis, GD&T, blueprint reading
  • Strong organization, interpersonal, and communication skills with proven leadership skills and decision making abilities
  • Ability to travel 10-15% to partner, develop and improve strategic supplier
  • Demonstrated ability to organize, facilitate and lead product quality, process and system improvement teams


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Formal Lean and / or Six Sigma training with significant demonstrated accomplishments preferred
  • Knowledge of non-destructive inspection methods and applications preferred such as MT/PT/VT/ET/UT


Preferred Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Aerospace, Metallurgy / Materials) or a related discipline preferred
