Full Job Description
Position Summary:

The Quality Manager is accountable for quality outcomes, ISO 9001 compliance, and process discipline across all label manufacturing operations. This role owns the Quality Management System (QMS), ensures product and process quality in production, leads nonconformance resolution through root cause analysis, manages customer and supplier quality performance, and drives quality metrics with a continuous improvement culture. The Quality Manager is empowered to place quality holds, quarantine nonconforming product, and escalate or stop production or shipment when required to protect compliance and customer requirements. This will mostly be on-site in Westfield, IN with quarterly travel to Little Canada, MN.

Key Responsibilities:

Own and Govern the Quality Management System (QMS)
• Serve as the EOS owner for quality outcomes and process discipline
• Maintain ISO 9001 certification, documentation, and audit readiness
• Act as ISO Management Representative
• Control and manage QMS documents (SOPs, work instructions, forms, records)
• Prepare and present Management Review inputs
• Lead internal, customer, and supplier audit planning and execution
• Own CAPA lifecycle: response, closure, verification, and prevention

Ensure Product and Process Quality in Production
• Define inspection standards for incoming, in-process, and final product
• Oversee First Article Inspections (FAI), approval samples, and material/print trials
• Conduct layered audits across workcenters (screen print, digital print, converting, finishing, shipping)
• Implement quality checkpoints, operator checklists, and process control plans
• Manage quality holds, quarantines, and product release decisions
• Partner with operators and prepress/art teams to prevent setup, print, and variable-data errors

Lead Nonconformance Resolution and Root Cause Analysis
• Own internal and external NCR (Nonconforming Product/Material) events
• Lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and corrective action implementation
• Drive preventive actions to reduce recurrence
• Collaborate with engineering, maintenance, and operations on process validation
• Ensure defect containment protects customers and compliance requirements

Manage Customer and Supplier Quality Performance
• Own customer complaint resolution, RMAs, and trend analysis
• Support customer audit requests and quality data reporting
• Qualify and validate new label materials (films, adhesives, inks, laminates) including traceability and shelf-life requirements
• Maintain the Approved Supplier List (ASL) and supplier quality scorecards
• Conduct supplier audits and manage vendor corrective actions when materials fail spec

Drive Quality Metrics, Continuous Improvement, and Culture
• Publish and improve quality KPIs (scrap %, defects, complaints, NCR cycle time, delivery quality)
• Lead Lean/Kaizen quality improvement initiatives
• Support DOE experiments to optimize print and converting performance
• Train and coach the organization on ISO awareness, inspection standards, and quality ownership
• Develop and mentor quality team members (inspectors, technicians)
• Promote a culture where quality protects customers, compliance, and long-term business success

Qualifications:

Education:

College degree preferred

Experience:

3 to 5 years of quality management and/or ISO implementation/auditing
