Job Title: Quality Engineer US

Location: Onsite, Indianapolis

Salary Rate: $74.000 - $93.000

We are currently looking for an Quality Engineer US to join our busy and growing manufacturing facility. The successful candidate will be engaged in elevating the department and company to the next level. The incumbent will be forward looking and thrive in a culture of continuous improvement.

General Accountability:

Reporting directly to the Quality Systems Manager, the Quality Engineer INDY oversees quality metrics analysis, process excellence, customer satisfaction improvement, QMS compliance with ISO 9001, gas industry regulatory, product safety (including hazardous area). This role may also provide training and documentation required for quality awareness promotion within the organization and customers, as well as analysis of efficiency with recommendations on processes improvement, and detailed part/finished-goods quality inspections in a production environment.

Key Job Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
  • Promote process excellence by evaluating the compliance degree and gap identification
  • Work with process owners to map, analyze, and improve the processes
  • Advocate the culture of process thinking, arrange essential training/workshops with employees, and oversee the implementation of the new processes and drive the process excellency with measurables
  • Accountable for improving customer satisfaction by working closely with quality, operations, sales, and customer solutions teams to resolve all customer quality concerns with effective communication to customers (both internal and external)
  • Review and monitor customer survey index with initiatives proposed to top management
  • Lead as Subject Matter Expert and responsible for Romet Quality Management System (QMS) compliance with ISO 9001, gas industry regulatory requirement, product safety (including hazardous)
  • Build the business strategy into the quality manual with related operations procedures/work instructions
  • Responsible for Romet quality metrics data collection and analysis by providing regular analysis reports to the responsible stakeholders
  • Organize regular Romet business performance review sessions to review KPIs with top management and document quality records properly
  • Lead in both internal and external audits actively with reference to pre-defined audit schedules, regularly publish the audit results/findings to various levels, close open issues in a timely manner
  • Work closely with Romet order management, sales, and manufacturing engineers to continuously optimize the business process to improve the accuracy of customer master product specification, data file format, and content, ERT/AMR programming configuration, packing slips, and invoice, etc
  • Plan annual employee's survey with analysis to evaluate the QMS training needs, training efficiency, and identify gaps for continuous improvement
  • Be the guide and foundation for quality mind-set within the organization
  • Work with product development to effectively transition new products into operations, ensuring that high-quality product levels are met and processes are followed
  • Perform part and finished goods final quality inspections in support of daily product shipments
  • Comply with all quality and safety requirements
  • Staying up to date with best business practices and technological developments
  • Gather and analyze business performance data

Skills and Qualifications:
  • Experience in machining/assembly environments and understanding of process parameters/controls
  • Advanced knowledge to read, understand, and interpret 2D and 3D drawings, including geometrical dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Advanced knowledge of computer/software (Microsoft Office, ERP Systems, experience in Microsoft Business Central, CSA and Measurement Canada portal, etc.), Minitab is a PLUS
  • Solid understanding and expertise in gas industry on regulatory requirements, product safety certification, hazard management, etc.
  • Excellent understanding of ISO 9001 and ISO 17025 quality standards
  • Experience of giving presentations to management regarding project results
  • When challenged with quality questions or policy adherence, be able to effectively communicate and share the best approach to ensure long term product quality
  • Must possess excellent leadership and problem-solving skills, documentation, and organizational skills
  • Excellent verbal/written English language skills, strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to set priorities and handle multiple priorities and be a self-starter
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Solid analytical skills, integrative thinking, and advanced problem-solving skills (e.g. Fishbone, Pareto, Cause and Effect, 5-Why, 8D, PFD, PFMEA, Control Plan, etc.)
  • Excellent project management skills

Educational/Experience Requirements:
  • College or University degree in manufacturing, mechanical, electronics or industrial engineering
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience required or equivalent manufacturing exposure in machine shop and assembly environments
  • ISO 9001:2015 Lead Auditor experience or qualification is a MUST
  • ISO 17025 Lead Auditor experience or qualification considered an asset
  • Experience with Measurement Canada and CSA is a MUST, certification bodies (e.g. UL, Intertek, European, etc.) is a PLUS
  • Experience with manufacturing process audit (e.g. layered process audit) is a MUST and 2nd party customer audit is a PLUS
  • Proven records of strong learning capacity in the new working environment in a reasonable duration
