Quality Engineer Expert – QE Platform & Enablement
Role Summary
The Director level Quality Engineering Expert for Platform & Enablement owns the shared quality foundations that enable scale, consistency, and predictable delivery across all C&IB domains. This role is accountable for eliminating systemic delivery constraints by centralizing ownership of test environments, test data capabilities, automation platforms, and governance.
The role primarily leads senior individual contributors, including QE Architects and Principal Quality Engineers, and ensures their expertise is leveraged effectively across domains rather than duplicated within them.
Reporting Line & Scope
• Reports to: Head of C&IB Quality Engineering
• Leads: Senior ICs (QE Architects, Principal Quality Engineers) and small enablement pods.
• Scope: Horizontal enablement supporting Payments, Commercial Lending, Digital, and Capital Markets
• Key partners: Engineering Leaders, Architecture, Platform Engineering, DevOps/SRE, Infrastructure, Data Platforms, Security, Risk & Control

Key Accountabilities
• Direct senior ICs to design and deliver scalable, reusable QE platforms and standards
• Remove systemic delivery constraints impacting multiple domains
• Drive platform led, applied innovation that improves quality outcomes and reduces execution risk
• Ensure innovation initiatives transition into run state capabilities with ownership, adoption, and metrics
• Use execution data and quality signals to identify risk hot spots and prioritize enablement investments
• Own vendor/tooling strategy and financial stewardship for horizontal QE capabilities
Responsibilities
• Build and execute a multi quarter enablement roadmap with clear milestones and measurable outcomes
• Guide QE Architects and Principal Engineers in defining patterns, standards, and reference implementations
• Establish intake and prioritization models balancing domain demand with enablement capacity
• Partner with platform, infrastructure, and data teams to deliver committed improvements
• Drive adoption of platforms and standards through enablement, coaching, and influence—not mandate
• Provide executive level visibility into constraints removed, innovation scaled, and delivery readiness impact

Qualifications
• 15+ years in Quality Engineering / Software Engineering
• 8–10+ years leading senior engineers, architects, or enterprise scale enablement teams
• Proven success building shared engineering platforms or standards adopted at scale
• Demonstrated ability to translate emerging ideas into operationalized capabilities
• Strong executive communication and cross organization influence
Job Description- Uses technical expertise to lead the implementation of the current state strategy for Quality Engineering.
- Responsible for the development of the future state vision of the function, individually at the business unit level and in partnership for the organization. Provides guidance and advises on complicated technology issues for application development, implementation and automation.
- Provides application testing expertise and ensures required inspections are complete and validated to adhere to established company, industry, and regulatory standards.
- Drives automation efforts to deliver increased efficiency and standardization in testing methodology.
- Oversees and owns the timely and proper execution of the risk management program within Quality Engineering, including control ownership.
- Provides coaching, mentorship, and training to Engineering Managers and Quality Engineers.
