Job Description:

Caterpillar is seeking a Quality Engineer in Athens, GA. In this role, you will support Caterpillar Quality Management System audits and certification efforts, lead root cause and corrective action (RCCA) efforts and ensure built in quality (BIQ) is maintained in the plant. 

What you can look forward to in this role:

  • Work with all employees to improve quality practices in their processes through quality manners such as daily coaching, tracking Built in Quality (BIQ) projects & Scorecard 

  • Provide quality support to deter poor results or negative trends 

  • Develop training programs, providing training courses of quality specifications to employees 

  • Conduct internal quality audits, facilitate management reviews, etc. 

  • Implement the Idea Generation Process and Corrective and Preventive action processes by clarifying and verifying all ideas with related persons and spot check, explain the validation reasons, and encourage all employees to make contributions to achieve zero defect in operations. 

  • Actively support 5S/Lean Manufacturing/Class A and SAP and ongoing support, to help area owners set up goals and integrate 5S/Lean Manufacturing Practices with Internal Quality Certification system through standardization and documentation 

A successful candidate in this role will showcase their skills in:

  • Quality Management: Knowledge of quality management methods, tools, and techniques and ability to create and support an environment that meets the quality goals of the organization. 

  • Problem Solving: Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations. 

  • Root Cause Analysis (RCA): Knowledge of the concepts, principles and techniques of root cause analysis (RCA); ability to use a structured approach to identify the causes of undesirable consequences in a manufacturing environment and the changes needed to prevent recurrences. 

  • Manufacturing Standards, Procedures and Policies: Knowledge of organizational standards, procedures and policies in manufacturing activities; ability to plan, guide, and monitor manufacturing processes for compliance. 

Top Candidates for this position may also have:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Manufacturing with an excellent understanding of quality management practices OR equivalent experience. 

  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite 

  • Three to five years of experience and requires a thorough knowledge of quality concepts including process control, analysis, Caterpillar internal certification principals, and ISO9000 

  • Experience in coaching others on problem solving techniques 

  • Strong communication, cooperation and influence skills to work with all levels of employees and customers, especially with leadership management employees 

  • Experience of quality tools and the ability to teach manufacturing/office employees how to properly apply quality tools or techniques

The primary location for this position is Athens, GA.

Summary Pay Range:

$89,210.00 - $133,810.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
