Full Job Description
PPG's Aerospace Business is looking for a passionate Quality Control/Assurance Chemist at our Los Angeles, CA location! In this role, you will play an important part in performing qualitative and quantitative analyses of in-process samples. Your expertise will help determine the conformance or non-conformance of materials, using your understanding of material formulation. This is an onsite position reporting directly to our Site Quality Manager.

Key Responsibilities
  • Help develop and maintain internal quality procedures and implement QA/Control plans as per customer and company requirements
  • Examine and review customer quality and material specifications, ensuring alignment with their quality system requirements for revision and technical changes
  • Ensure PFMEA documents are maintained, risks identified and action taken.
  • Lead internal audits and root cause analysis.
  • Manage Process Control Documents (PCD) and participate in an unbiased internal audit program to ensure compliance with quality procedures across all operations.
  • Adhere to Health, Safety, and Environmental protocols while contributing to process enhancements to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Participate in certification and customer audits.
  • Ensure test equipment is calibrated and in conformance with specifications
  • Follow standard operating procedures of lab functions and equipment, and contribute to the development of new procedures
  • Follow quality procedures and protocols, and help implement AS9100
  • Ensure adherence to safety attitudes, procedures, and housekeeping in all work programs
  • Assist technicians in the lab and perform more in-depth testing and material analysis


Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in chemistry or a related STEM field with aerospace sealant and coatings experience preferred
  • 3 + years of experience in a chemistry related role performing laboratory analysis or education in lieu of experience
  • Proficiency in continuous improvement methodologies, including Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles preferred
  • Must be able to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and a full face respirator
  • Must be a US Citizenship, able to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance. Fully adjudicated favorable DoD Secret eligibility preferred. No dual citizenship.


Pay Transparency:

The base salary range for this position is $82,500 to $90,800, with a possibility of an annual bonus up to X% of base salary. PPG offers comprehensive benefits such as Health, Dental, Life, Retirement Plan, Paid Vacation & Holidays, Employee Assistance Program (EAP), Disability/Leave, and other Voluntary benefit offerings. Actual benefit offerings confirmed at the time of hire.
