In this position...
  • The Ford Racing Production Vehicle Quality and Launch Team is looking for a Data Analytics Specialist to integrate into our Ford Racing team by analyzing and interpreting warranty and connected vehicle data indicators to focus the team on emerging issues and key insights.
  • This role will involve developing data solutions for internal customers and working with the engineering teams on the use of data for problem solving. We are looking for someone who has a passion for growing their skills, tackling exciting "leading edge" work, has a passion for customer quality, and likes problem solving potential concerns.


Responsibilities

What you'll do...
  • Define and investigate warranty claims LTIS (0 - 3 MIS) and HTIS (12 - 36 MIS) including developing trends based on vehicle line, time in service, operating conditions, locations and other critical factors.
  • Lead the use of Connected Vehicle data through the ideation and development of tools/methods for problem solving. Develop processes, tools and methods to obtain insight from large files of Connected Vehicle data. Provide data and analysis to support Quality Assessment in the launch scorecard [Launch Quality Operating System (LQOS)]
  • Lead/support High Time in Service Quality Projects using Design for Six Sigma / 8D processes on aggressive timelines to support warranty spend and failure rate reduction targets.
  • Responsibilities include evaluation of high warranty spend/failure rate subsystems and vehicle applications with a focus on issues that contribute to > 12 MIS warranty and/or are design/physics related versus supplier quality/manufacturing defect related.
  • Identify and document lessons learned for knowledge preservation. Own Ford Racing Technical Specialist Prevent forum (agenda setting, minutes, open assignments, etc)
  • Ensure the completion of "Meets Program Intent" quality assessments of the gateways leading from prototype to production by reviewing documentation, participating in gate reviews, and escalating any identified risks.
  • Be Subject Matter Expert on Quality AI, JIRA, SIMPSN within Ford Racing
  • Build strong and trusting relationships with business partners across Ford North American organizations


Qualifications

You'll have...
  • B.S. in Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Computer Science or related field
  • 1-2 years of experience in Big Data Analytics
  • 1+ Years of engineering experience in quality, product development or manufacturing
  • Proficient in MS OFFICE
  • Proficient in 8D problem solving methodology/ strategic problem solving.
  • Strong teamwork, organizational, oral communication, presentation, and written communication skills, with ability to work effectively with various functions. Ability to take complex problems and break them down to build and implement an action plan
  • Self-motivated individual with a high level of initiative. Ability to prioritize in a fast-paced, sophisticated, global environment
  • Ability to consistently perform at a high level of technical competence, showing composure and decisiveness under pressure

Even better, you may have...
  • M.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Computer Science or related field
  • Six Sigma Certification (Green / Blackbelt/ Design for Six Sigma)
  • Ability to understand how to ingest large data sets from a variety of sources (SQL, Python, Java, Alteryx, Qlik Sense, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of Ford's quality tools and process - on the job experience with GSAR, QARS, 3rd Party (JD Power IQS Live and Repair Analytics)
  • Familiarity/experience with Failure Mode Avoidance and Robustness and Reliability processes
  • Proven leadership skills in team building, implementing process improvements, problem solving, and consistent delivery to objectives

This position is a salary grade 6 and ranges from $74,300-$124,500.

This position is a salary grade 7 and ranges from $86,600-$144,900.

This position is a salary grade 8 and ranges from $99,100-$166,200.

Final determination of salary grade will be based on candidate's skills and experience, and base salary will be set within the applicable range according to job scope, responsibility and competitive market value.
