About the job QA / Release Manager (Salesforce Marketing Cloud)

ABOUT THE ROLE

We're hiring a senior QA / Release Manager to own quality and release management for a Marketing Cloud implementation for a Canadian client in a regulated industry. You'll define the test strategy, lead the QA team, and manage the release pipeline across multiple environments, ensuring every deployment is clean, traceable, and audit-ready.

This role is based in Canada due to data residency requirements, and candidates must be comfortable with a client-led background check.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

QA Leadership
  • Define the overall test strategy across functional, integration, regression, and UAT
  • Build and maintain test plans, test cases, and test data
  • Lead a small QA team and coordinate with developers, consultants, and the client
  • Manage the defect lifecycle, triage, and resolution tracking

Release & Environment Management
  • Own the release calendar, deployment plans, and go/no-go criteria
  • Manage Marketing Cloud Business Units and environment promotion
  • Define and enforce branching, versioning, and deployment standards
  • Coordinate cutover, hypercare, and post-release stabilisation

Process & Governance
  • Establish entry and exit criteria for each phase
  • Maintain traceability between requirements, builds, tests, and defects
  • Produce QA and release reporting for the Engagement Lead and client
  • Drive continuous improvement across QA and release practices

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Must-Have
  • 10+ years of QA, release management, or DevOps experience
  • 4+ years working on Salesforce Marketing Cloud projects
  • Strong test strategy and defect management background
  • Experience managing releases across multi-environment Salesforce setups
  • Working knowledge of regulated-industry quality and audit requirements
  • Based in Canada (mandatory due to data residency)
  • Comfortable with a client background check

Technical Depth
  • Salesforce Marketing Cloud Business Unit and environment management
  • Test management tools (Jira, Zephyr, Xray, TestRail or similar)
  • Defect management workflows and reporting
  • Git-based source control and CI/CD pipelines
  • Working knowledge of API testing tools (Postman, SoapUI)

Preferred Certifications
  • ISTQB (Foundation or Advanced)
  • Salesforce Certified Marketing Cloud Administrator
  • Certified Scrum Master or SAFe (a plus)

NICE TO HAVE
  • Prior delivery experience in Financial Services, Healthcare, or Public Sector
  • Familiarity with PIPEDA and CASL audit and traceability requirements
  • Exposure to automation frameworks for Salesforce
  • Background in a consultancy or SI environment
