Position Description: We are looking for a QA Engineer with a backend focus and an SDET-like mindset. This role is centered on API and backend testing, with automation testing experience and a deeper understanding of system behavior.
Your future duties and responsibilities: . Execute manual testing for RESTful APIs (functional, integration, regression, negative testing)
. Validate API endpoints using tools like Postman (payloads, headers, auth, error handling)
. Review API specs and identify edge cases or gaps
. Troubleshoot issues using logs and backend data to identify root causes
. Partner with developers to report defects and validate fixes
. Perform end-to-end testing across systems and integrations
. Validate data across APIs, databases, and services
. Participate in Agile ceremonies (standups, sprint planning, etc.)
. Maintain test documentation (test cases, plans, reports)
. Support QA process improvements and contribute to automation where possible

Required Experience
. 3-7+ years of QA/SDET experience with strong API/backend testing
. Solid understanding of REST APIs, HTTP methods, and integrations
. Hands-on experience with Postman or similar tools
. Ability to read JSON, XML, and write basic SQL queries
. Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
. Experience working closely with engineering teams in Agile environments
Preferred
. Some experience building QA automation scripts (any tool)
. Exposure to CI/CD and automated testing workflows
. Experience with microservices or cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP)

The determination of this range includes various factors not limited to skill set, level, experience, relevant training, and licensure and certifications. To support the ability to reward for merit-based performance, CGI typically does not hire individuals at or near the top of the range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range for this role in the U.S. is $58k to $123,800.
