Job Description & Responsibilities

Persistent Systems is actively seeking a Purchasing Agent to join our team at the New York City headquarters. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in supporting our supply chain department by overseeing the procurement of materials, products, and other essential supplies. This entails identifying and engaging with suppliers, as well as engaging in pricing negotiations. Additionally, you will be tasked with maintaining optimal inventory levels by analyzing sales records and current stock inventory, effectively managing fluctuations in supply and demand to ensure seamless manufacturing processes and timely delivery of our Wave Relay products.

 

Position Responsibilities

  • Reports to the Manager of Purchasing
  • Comply with company purchasing policies and procedures
  • Responsible for negotiating and overseeing complex long-term supply agreements to optimize cost savings, minimize lead time, and implement a consignment model to sustain costs and reduce risk of excess inventory
  • Required to understand and analyze the cost base and pipeline of current and future activity and translate this into clear sourcing plans
  • Analyze market trends, pricing, and quality of products to ensure the best value for the organization
  • Timely and effective communication of forecasts to suppliers
  • Evaluate areas of opportunity and reduce costs where possible
  • Support the business in the execution of the process so that contract manufacturing service levels and key performance indicators are adequately defined within the contractual documentation and ensure that the necessary controls around supplier management standards are achieved
  • Required to work within a diverse team of engineers and stakeholders and will be expected to lead the procurement elements of projects
  • Ensure the accuracy of the ERP system by meticulously reviewing all records of purchased products, vendor contracts, and item integrity
  • Conduct regular audits of current and potential suppliers by visiting their plants and distribution centers
  • Ability to work within a healthy and collaborative team environment
Job Qualifications & Experience

Minimum Qualifications

  • 3 years of experience in procurement or purchasing
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Experience withLean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement practices and procedures
  • Experience purchasing electronic materials, parts, components, etc.
  • Strong negotiating skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and procurement (e.g. ERP, MRP) or similar software.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor27s degree in supply chain management or a related degree or equivalent experience (e.g. CPSM, CSCP)

 

Total compensation for this role can vary from $85,000 to $106,000 a year based on the selected individual's education and experience.
