Job Summary:

The Public Sector Regional Sales Manager is responsible for proactively developing an assigned region by identifying, creating, developing, and securing new business with public sector and government customers. This role requires consistent territory development, in-person customer engagement, and the ability to identify customer needs and upcoming procurement opportunities before formal bids or solicitations are released. The position focuses on building relationships with municipalities, transit agencies, school districts, state and local government entities, and other public organizations that purchase shuttle buses and passenger vans. The position manages the full sales cycle, including prospecting, customer needs assessment, product recommendations, pricing, bid/RFP support, contract coordination, and post-sale follow-up. The Public Sector Regional Sales Manager works closely with internal sales leadership and operations teams to expand market presence, strengthen customer relationships, and drive revenue growth within the assigned region.

Essential Functions:

  • Proactively identify, create, develop, and secure new business opportunities within an assigned region with public sector and government customers, including municipalities, transit agencies, school districts, state and local government entities, and other public organizations.
  • Promote and sell the company's shuttle buses, passenger vans, and related transportation solutions by assessing customer needs and recommending appropriate vehicle options.
  • Manage all aspects of the sales cycle, including prospecting, lead development, customer presentations, product evaluation, pricing, negotiations, contract coordination, order fulfillment, and post-sale follow-up.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with public sector decision-makers, procurement contacts, fleet managers, and key stakeholders to support long-term account growth and repeat business.
  • Monitor bid opportunities, RFPs, cooperative purchasing programs, and government contract vehicles to identify and pursue new sales opportunities within the assigned region.
  • Coordinate with internal sales leadership, operations, finance, and fulfillment teams to ensure accurate proposals, timely responses, competitive pricing, and successful delivery of vehicles.
  • Manage regional sales activities, including regular customer outreach, territory planning, pipeline development, travel for customer visits, and participation in industry events or trade association meetings.
  • Document all customer interactions, account activity, sales opportunities, forecasts, and pipeline updates in Salesforce in accordance with company sales processes.
  • Track market trends, competitor activity, procurement cycles, funding opportunities, and customer needs within the public sector transportation market.
  • Provide regular updates to the Director of Sales regarding territory performance, account status, sales forecasts, new business opportunities, and potential risks or barriers to growth.

Physical Demands:

Required Education/Experience/Certifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of three years of successful sales experience, preferably in B2B, fleet, transportation, commercial vehicle, or public sector sales.
  • Proven ability to identify new business opportunities, build a sales pipeline, manage customer relationships, and achieve sales goals within an assigned territory or region.
  • Experience using Salesforce or another CRM system to manage customer activity, sales opportunities, forecasting, and pipeline reporting.
  • Previous vehicle, shuttle bus, passenger van, fleet, or transportation equipment sales experience a plus.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record required.


Preferred Education/Experience/Certifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, sales, marketing, public administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience selling to public sector, government, education, transit, municipal, or fleet customers preferred.
  • Experience with bid processes, RFP responses, cooperative purchasing programs, government contracts, or public procurement requirements preferred.
  • Prior sales experience with shuttle buses, passenger vans, commercial vehicles, fleet vehicles, or transportation equipment preferred.
  • Established relationships or prior account management experience within the assigned regional public sector market preferred.


Travel Requirements:

Regular travel of approximately 50%-60% is expected within the assigned region to proactively develop the territory, meet with public sector and government customers, identify and create new business opportunities, conduct vehicle demonstrations, attend industry events or trade association meetings, participate in bid/RFP-related activities, and support customer relationship development. Overnight travel will be required, and occasional evening or weekend travel may be necessary based on customer meetings, trade shows, conferences, vehicle deliveries, or other business needs.
