The External Communications team crafts and disseminates the corporate narrative that elevates Medidata's leadership in life sciences. As the Public Relations Manager, you will report directly to the Senior Director, External Communications. In this role, you will execute PR and brand initiatives to generate awareness, strengthen perception, and deliver a cohesive external story across our commercial milestones, scientific breakthroughs, and our expanding academic research and clinical initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- PR Projects & Campaign Execution: Contribute to the development and execution of public relations and external communication strategies, translating the overarching corporate narrative into well-organized, on-brand deliverables.
- Storytelling & Content Generation: Produce narratives translating complex business strategies, clinical evidence, and product launches into clear, compelling external stories.
- Cross-Functional Synergy: Partner seamlessly with teams across Growth Marketing, Product Marketing, Digital, Social, and Events to ensure cohesive messaging and seamless campaign handoffs.
- Agency Coordination: Support day-to-day external PR agency relationships, including briefing partners, tracking project status, and ensuring consistent, high-quality on-brand execution.
- PR Operations & Process Standardization: Oversee day-to-day PR operations and help drive the adoption of best practices by maintaining standardized documentation, templates, and internal resources. Support the establishment of frameworks and processes that ensure consistency and quality of PR engagements.
- Performance Tracking: Establish and manage comprehensive PR tracking processes to monitor share of voice, media sentiment, and reach. Analyze campaign performance metrics and surface actionable insights and produce regular executive reports.
Qualifications:
- 4+ years of communication and public relations experience, in-house or agency, with at least 1-2 years of experience working with B2B brands, ideally within tech, SaaS, life sciences, healthcare, or other highly regulated industries.
- Exceptional writer and editor with a portfolio of thought leadership work including bylines, op-eds, and contributed articles published as earned placements.
- Generative AI Proficiency: Hands-on experience ethically integrating AI tools (e.g., Gemini, ChatGPT, Claude) into daily PR workflows to accelerate drafting, media list management, performance reporting and more, while maintaining strict editorial judgment and brand voice.
- Strong operational skills with the ability to manage multiple workstreams, coordinate cross-functional inputs, and oversee day-to-day external agency partnerships (including briefing, feedback consolidation, and timeline management.
- Proficiency in PR measurement tools, competitive intelligence, and reporting
As with all roles, Medidata sets ranges based on a number of factors including function, level, candidate expertise and experience, and geographic location. Pay ranges for candidates in locations other than New York City, may differ based on the local market data in that region.
The salary range for positions that will be physically based in New York is $96,000 - $128,000
Base pay is one part of the Total Rewards that Medidata provides to compensate and recognize employees for their work. Most sales positions are eligible for a commission on the terms of applicable plan documents, and many of Medidata's non-sales positions are eligible for annual bonuses.
