This Position reports to:
Proposal Manager
Your role and responsibilities (Mandatory)In this role, you will support the Sales organization and customers by translating customer requirements into workable concepts and proposals. You will apply your understanding of real-world system design, integration, and deployment to define solutions, identify risks, estimate costs, and prepare complete proposal documentation aligned with customer needs and project execution realities.
The work model for the role is: hybrid in our Auburn Hills, MI headquarters.
This role is contributing to the ABB Robotics - General Industries business line (non-automotive). Main stakeholders are internal sales teams, engineering teams, project managing teams, end customers, and system integrators.
You will be mainly accountable for:
- Offering technical advice and solutions on inquiries from customers/channels/Sales Specialists about ABB products/systems/applications.
- Developing automation concepts (robotic cells, material handling systems, and integrated solutions) that are feasible, scalable, and aligned with real-world implementation constraints
- Evaluating customer requirements and performing technical and commercial assessments, including system sizing, risk identification, and cost estimation
- Supporting sales efforts by resolving complex technical questions and contributing to winning proposals while meeting order, profitability, and customer satisfaction targets
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, Automation, Robotics, or Associate's and 4+years related experience or High School and 6+ years equivalent hands-on experience in robotics or automation.
- Simulator Software experience with either AutoCAD or Robot Studio
- 2-5 years of experience in robotics, automation, or system integration (integrator, applications, controls, or manufacturing engineering background highly preferred)
- Hands-on experience working with robotic systems or automated equipment (e.g., installation, programming, commissioning, or support)
- Familiarity with automation system components such as robots, end-of-arm tooling, conveyors, PLCs, or vision systems
- Ability to understand how systems are designed, built, and deployed.
- Experience supporting or interfacing system integrators, customers, or internal engineering teams on automation projects.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to work through incomplete information and develop practical, executable solutions.

While base salary is determined by things such as the successful applicant's qualifications and experience, this position is expected to pay between $XX and $XX annually and is bonus eligible.
