Overview:

ERP Program Management Office (PMO) leader is responsible for leading the governance, coordination, planning, and execution oversight of the enterprise-wide ERP transformation program. This leader serves as a key liaison between the organization and the contracted system implementation partner, ensuring alignment of business objectives, project delivery, resources, risks, budgets, quality standards, and change management activities.

The ERP PMO leader acts as the central point of accountability for program governance and execution, driving successful implementation of the ERP platform while ensuring stakeholder engagement, organizational readiness, and realization of business benefits.

This role works closely with executive leadership, functional business leaders, IT leadership, process owners, project teams, and the implementation partner to ensure the ERP program is delivered on time, within budget, and in accordance with agreed scope and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

ERP Program Leadership

  • Lead the ERP Program Management Office and establish program governance, standards, methodologies, controls, and reporting structures.
  • Provide overall coordination of all ERP workstreams, including Finance, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Procurement, Sales, Human Resources, Data Migration, Integrations, Reporting, Testing, Training, and Change Management.
  • Ensure all project activities support the organization's strategic goals and business transformation objectives.
  • Drive accountability across business and IT teams to achieve project milestones and deliverables.


Implementation Partner Management

  • Serve as key relationship manager for the contracted ERP implementation partner.
  • Monitor implementation partner performance, contract compliance, staffing commitments, deliverables, milestones, and quality expectations.
  • Facilitate issue resolution between business stakeholders and consulting resources.
  • Review and challenge partner recommendations, assumptions, estimates, change requests, and solution designs to ensure alignment with business objectives.
  • Escalate performance, resource, scope, or quality concerns as appropriate.


Program Governance

  • Establish and manage governance structures including:
    • Executive Steering Committee
    • Project Leadership Team
    • Change Control Board
    • Functional Design Authority
    • Risk Management Reviews
  • Prepare executive-level reporting on project status, milestones, risks, issues, budget, scope, and readiness metrics.
  • Coordinate governance meetings and ensure timely decision-making by key stakeholders.


Project Planning and Execution Oversight

  • Maintain the integrated master program plan across all workstreams.
  • Ensure dependencies, critical path activities, and milestone commitments are identified and managed.
  • Monitor schedule adherence and proactively address project risks.
  • Drive disciplined project execution using established PMO methodologies and tools.


Risk, Issue, and Change Management

  • Establish and maintain program risk and issue management processes.
  • Lead mitigation planning for strategic, operational, technical, organizational, and compliance risks.
  • Oversee project change control processes for scope, schedule, budget, and resource changes.
  • Ensure executive visibility into critical project challenges and decision requirements.


Financial and Resource Management

  • Manage program budgets, forecasts, and financial reporting.
  • Monitor consulting spend, software costs, infrastructure investments, and internal resource allocations.
  • Coordinate resource planning across business and IT functions.
  • Identify staffing gaps and support resource acquisition activities.


Organizational Change Management

  • Partner with Change Management leadership to ensure organizational readiness.
  • Promote stakeholder engagement and adoption of new business processes.
  • Support development of communication, training, and business readiness strategies.
  • Ensure successful transition from legacy processes and systems.


Quality Assurance and Program Controls

  • Establish project quality management processes.
  • Monitor deliverable quality, testing readiness, defect management, and implementation readiness.
  • Ensure adherence to project methodologies, standards, and governance requirements.
  • Coordinate independent quality reviews and readiness assessments.


Executive Communication

  • Provide concise and actionable communications to executives and project stakeholders.
  • Present program status, risks, decisions, financials, and readiness assessments to senior leadership and steering committees.
  • Build confidence and alignment across the organization throughout the transformation journey.
