Overview

We have an exciting opportunity for a Project Engineering Technologist to join the team with Barrios, a teammate company!

Responsibilities

The Project Engineering Technologist will:

  • Test hardware and support equipment buildup and maintenance as needed

  • Assist engineers in the creation of solutions to engineering design problems and technical support

  • Development of test procedures including working with various organizations across JSC.

  • Work in a team environment and report to the team lead to provide status on progress and issues and for support.

  • Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications

Required Education/Experience/Skills:

  • High School diploma, plus ten (10) years of experience.  A bachelor's degree in Engineering Technology or related field, plus five (5) years of experience may be accepted.

  • Experience with the design, assembly, verification, testing, and operation of space hardware systems

  • Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in the space hardware field, such as mechanical and electrical system design, engineering drawings and sketches, material selection, and design software and tools

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office products

Preferences:

  • Previous experience in designing and building EVA related unique hardware

  • Previous testing experience

  • Knowledge/use of CAD modeling software

 

Essential Requirements 

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and successfully complete a U.S. government background investigation.
  • Applicant selected may be subject to government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
  • Work may involve sitting for extended periods.
  • May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lb.
  • Must have sufficient mobility to enter areas of test facilities where necessary.
  • Generally, an office environment but can involve inside or outside work depending on task.
  • Standard office equipment (PC, telephone, fax, etc.)
  • Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical.
  • Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements when required.
  • Must be able to work in a team atmosphere.
  • Must put forward a professional behavior that enhances productivity and promotes teamwork and cooperation.
  • Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others.
  • This position may require some commuting and traveling to other installations as needed.
