An ideal candidate has experience in asking the right questions to elicit the real problems that our clients are trying to solve. They probe into the problem space to ensure they fully capture – in detail – what each of the end users will be able to do with the resultant application.

The ideal candidate is an open communicator with colleagues and clients that expresses risks they foresee early in the process and presents those risks as opportunities, and they take ownership of issues as they arise.

Finally, the ideal candidate is always striving to improve; themselves, their team, and the applications we develop and maintain. UBC is one of the best universities in the world with some of the best faculty, researchers, and students at any institution anywhere. We solve hard problems and as such there are very few better places to learn and apply your software engineering craft. Your cover letter is a great opportunity to tell us about how you solve complex problems.
