B2B Books is building a brand-new service that lets public and school libraries skip hours of manual processing and put new books straight on the shelf. We're looking for a program manager to own how that service runs - to make the pilot operationally excellent and scale it reliably from hundreds of books a day to thousands.
Today, libraries spend time and money getting books ready to circulate - cataloging them, labeling them, adding protective covers. Our service does all of that before the books ever arrive. Standing up that operation, running it cleanly through a pilot, and scaling it without breaking quality or delivery is the job. You'll build the operating cadence - the metrics, the reviews, the escalation paths - that tell us how the operation is performing and where it's slipping. You'll work side by side with operations, fulfillment, and our processing vendor to hit quality and delivery targets on every order, find the bottlenecks, and close them. You own operational excellence: the service runs reliably, scales predictably, and gets better every month.
Key job responsibilities
* Own the operating cadence for the service. Build and run the metrics, business reviews, and reporting that track processing quality, throughput, and delivery SLAs across the pilot and scale-up. Surface risks early and drive them to closure.
* Run pilot operations day to day alongside operations, fulfillment, and the processing vendor. Hit the agreed quality and delivery bar on every order, capture what works, and turn it into a repeatable onboarding and operations playbook.
* Drive throughput and quality as volume scales from roughly a thousand to several thousand units a day. Find bottlenecks, eliminate defect sources, raise yield to improve cost per unit, and feed operational data into build, buy, and automate decisions.
* Coordinate across operations, fulfillment, engineering, finance, and legal to keep one operating plan on track. Manage dependencies, run escalations to the right level at the right time, and keep teams aligned on status, risks, and next steps.
