PROGRAM: Physician Assistant Studies Program

PURPOSE OF POSITION: Toadministratively oversee the Physician Assistant Program by
working with other core faculty toassure the delivery of a quality academic program.
EXTENT OF AUTHORITY/RESPONSIBILITY: By working with othercore faculty,
ensures that the Physician Assistant Program is kept up-to-date with teachingpractices that are
sound and contemporary and ensures that the program meets all ARC-PArequirements for
accreditation. Coordinates core faculty. Hires, evaluates, and supports adjunctfaculty to staff
courses in conjunction with the Director of Didactic Education. In conjunctionwith the Director
of Admissions, is responsible for marketing, recruiting, and enrolling studentsin the program.
Supports the Student Progress Committee with the review of student progress.
BACKGROUND/SKILLS NECESSARY FOR POSITION:
• Master's degree required
• Current certification by theNational Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants
(NCCPA)
• At least three years offull-time experience in PA education in faculty or administrative
role
• Thorough understanding of theARC-PA Accreditation Standards with the ability to
understand, interpret, andimplement accreditation criteria
• Excellent teaching skills andability to use current technologies in teaching
• Computer competency includingdemonstrated proficiency in utilization of Microsoft
Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint,and Excel), Qualtrics, eValue, and statistical analytic
software (SPSS).

SUPERVISORY RELATIONSHIP: The position reports directly to the Dean of the Gregg
Wadley College of Science andHealth Professions. The position supervises the Medical
Director, full-time and part-timefaculty (principal and instructional), staff, adjunct faculty, guest
lecturers, and clinicalpreceptors.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Accreditation/Accreditation Compliance Officer
Ensure that the program remains in compliance with all standards for continuing
accreditation through ARC-PA
Develop and ensure that a process of continuous review and analysis of program
effectiveness is ongoing and effective
Facilitate data system development using university resources and manage the
collection and analysis of assessment data
Provide oversight in program curriculum planning, development, and analysis as
related to ARC-PA compliance
Chair the Standards Compliance and Faculty Executive Committees
Serve as a member of the Data Analytics Committee
Conduct regular meetings with faculty members, Dean, and University leadership
on matters related to ongoing accreditation maintenance
Oversee development and review of departmental/program policies and
procedures relating to ARC-PA compliance
Regularly attend ARC-PA workshops to keep abreast of current expectations of
the ARC-PA in relation to program's compliance with the standards
Prepare and submit accreditation documents and reports
Ensure continuous maintenance of the program website
Work with the Office of Institutional Effectiveness Executive Director and
Assistant Director to ensure appropriate and effective data analysis of program
benchmarks
• Curriculum
Provide leadership and assistance with the development of new courses and
review of existing courses
Review course offerings each semester
Review and update the academic sections of the University catalog related tothe
program
Facilitate completion of all program review efforts
• Faculty
Supervise the hiring of program full-time, part-time, and adjunct faculty
Participate in the formative and summative evaluation of full-time and part-time
faculty
Assign teaching responsibilities to faculty
Mentor faculty members in teaching, scholarship, and service
Mentor faculty members through the University promotion and tenure processes
Approve the teaching schedule each semester
Conduct and lead regular program meetings with faculty
• Students
Teach lecture and/or laboratory courses in the program
Support the Student Progress Committee with student progress
Approve incomplete, independent study, and Leave of Absence requests for
students in the program
Revise Student Handbook annually and orient incoming students to program
policies and procedures
Mediate student/faculty issues
Participate in student admission and recruitment processes
Work with other core faculty before graduation to evaluate students' readinessto
practice
Support the Director of Clinical Education to ensure compliance with health and
malpractice insurance, immunization status, and other clearances required to beginthe program
• Administration
Oversee program planning and fiscal management
Implement and keep current standards for admission to the program
Assist with marketing, recruiting, screening, and enrolling students in theprogram
Develop and manage the program budget
Seek opportunities, collaborative partnerships, and new ideas for advancing the
program and the profession in the local, regional, and national communities
Promote visibility of the program in the community
Secure outside funding for the program as needed
Meet regularly with the Dean of the Gregg Wadley College of Science and Health
Professions and Provost
Perform any other duties assigned by the Dean and/or University leadership
Annual salary $147,684.00 with excellent benefits, including generous leave time.
