Full Job Description
We are seeking 2nd Shift Production Supervisor to support our optics value stream in our Middlefield, CT location.

As a 2nd Shift Production Supervisor, you will be responsible for leading a team of highly skilled associates in the crafting ultra-precision optical components into high-performance optics that enable world-class metrology and optical systems. You will oversee production operations to ensure safety, people, quality, delivery and cost objectives are met. This role leads and supports a production team, coordinates workflow, monitors performance, and drives continuous improvement.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Safety, People, Quality, Delivery, Value
  • Supervise production activities to achieve scheduled output, quality, and efficiency targets.
  • Allocate labor and resources to ensure smooth workflow and minimal downtime
  • Monitor production metrics (e.g., productivity, scrap, downtime) and take corrective action as needed.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, etc.).
  • Lead, coach, and motivate production team members to achieve performance goals.
  • Conduct shift startups, daily huddles and1st to 2nd shift hand-offs, and safety/quality briefings.
  • Hire and train new employees and support cross-training among team members.
  • Provide performance feedback and participate in evaluations and disciplinary actions as required.
  • Enforce safety policies and always ensure a safe working environment.
  • Ensure compliance with quality standards, work instructions, and operating procedures.
  • Investigate and resolve safety incidents, quality issues, and process deviations.
  • Escalate issues related to staffing, materials, equipment, or quality in a timely manner.
  • Maintain accurate production records, shift reports, and KPI tracking.
  • Communicate production status, issues, and improvement opportunities to leadership.
  • Participate in operational and cross-functional meetings as required.


REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Associate's degree or technical certification preferred (Manufacturing, Engineering, or related field)
  • 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing or production environment; prior supervisory or team-lead experience strongly preferred
  • Working knowledge of production processes, equipment, and safety standards
  • Ability to read and interpret production schedules, work instructions, and KPIs
  • Problem-solving and decision-making skills in a fast-paced environment
  • Basic computer skills (ERP/MRP systems, Microsoft Office, production reporting tools)
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
  • Accountability and integrity
