Role Purpose

The Production Shift Supervisor will lead and oversee 12-hour shift operations on a 4-3-3-4 schedule across one or more production areas, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality manufacturing performance. This role executes plant and department objectives by managing daily production activities, prioritizing schedules, and driving results across safety, quality, delivery, and cost metrics.

The supervisor provides direct leadership to large production teams, reinforces standardized work and compliance requirements, and partners cross-functionally to resolve operational, quality, and equipment-related issues. Through effective communication, employee engagement, continuous improvement initiatives, and data-driven decision-making, the Production Shift Supervisor plays a critical role in sustaining operational excellence and supporting change initiatives within a high-volume manufacturing environment.

Schedule: 12-hour shifts on 4-3-3-4 schedule.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage shift-based production activities to meet safety, production, quality, and cost objectives.
  • Prioritize and adjust production schedules based on product introductions, equipment efficiency, staffing, and business needs.
  • Monitor and improve performance metrics across one or more production departments.
  • Direct and support employees using established policies, procedures, and standardized work practices.
  • Spend a portion of time performing hands-on or individual tasks in support of production operations as required.
  • Provide direct supervision to production employees, including task assignment, coaching, and frequent performance monitoring.
  • Create and maintain positive, motivating employee relations aligned with corporate values and business objectives.
  • Maintain open communication with employees through one-on-one interactions and group forums.
  • Ensure employee alignment and focus through clear communication of priorities and expectations.
  • Provide training and onboarding support for new processes, procedures, and equipment.
  • Conduct daily production meetings with cross-functional representation.
  • Partner with engineering, quality, maintenance, and other functional teams to resolve quality, performance, and downtime issues in a timely manner.
  • Interact with peer supervisors, management, and occasionally outside customers to gain cooperation and communicate technical or operational information effectively.
  • Drive department strategies aligned with plant objectives and support successful execution of operational plans.
  • Participate in or lead cost-reduction and continuous improvement initiatives (quality, efficiency, waste reduction).
  • Support and actively participate in the plant's change management initiatives.
  • Assist with or lead investigations into manufacturing issues impacting product quality or process performance.
  • Maintain and enforce all safety regulations, housekeeping standards, and safe work practices on a consistent basis.
  • Support and comply with ISO 9000 and AS9100 quality standards.
  • Attend and actively participate in required plant and operational meetings.


Travel:
  • Occasional travel may be required (5-10%)


Required Education & Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent with experience in manufacturing operations; experience in high-volume or advanced materials manufacturing (e.g., solar or similar processes) preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in quality, engineering, or operations within a manufacturing environment.
  • 2+ years of leadership experience managing production teams.
  • Strong data analysis skills with the ability to interpret metrics and drive informed decisions.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage a diverse workforce across multiple levels.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, electronic document management systems, and ERP platforms.


Desired Skills & Attributes:
  • Experience supervising manual assembly or machining operations.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Continuous Improvement or Performance Excellence experience; Green Belt certification (Lean, Six Sigma, DMAIC) preferred.
  • Working knowledge of SAP ERP systems.


This position does not support immigration sponsorship.

The range for this position is $80,750.00 - $111,031.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
